We are starting to look for honeymoons for our October 2013 wedding. And we have been looking at the secrets resorts the rooms look gorgeous with them all having outside and inside hot tubs in each room. Has anyone has an experience with this resort and any of the secrets resorts. We were also looking at excellence in the Rivera and ibsamstar

Hi – We had our wedding-moon at Secrets Wild Orchid in Jamaica. It was pretty amazing. The resort looks identical to the photos (nothing is photo-shopped)…food was good, drinks were great, staff and everyone at the resort were friendly and welcoming. The weather was good for the most part too. The rooms were nice – plenty of space, althought the closet wasnt that large. There is a tub on the blacony – but only in the preferred club (not sure of the other resorts but this is how it was in Jamaica) and the tub on the balcony was not a hot tub or jaccuzzi – just a tub – the tub inside the room is a jaccuzzi and a large one too! I also wasnt a fan of the swim out suites in the preferred club – no privacy! Otherwise everything was top notch!
I know a few people that stayed at Maroma and they loved it there, each had an amazing time. I am looking at the new Secrets resort called The Vine in Cancun, that might be our next vacation.

Stayed in Secrets Capri in Riviera Maya earlier this month. Great food, weak mixed drinks, fantastic beach (we aren’t really pool people so we only went in the pool once but no complaints), friendly staff, daily turn-down service was a nice touch. We went during off-season so it wasn’t too crowded but it wasn’t a ghost town either.
PM me if you have specific questions!

We stayed at Secrets Silver Sands which is just down the beach from Maroma I believe. Their resorts are seriously SO beautiful! Everything is marble and sparkles and very “Miami Chic” I would say… not the typical ugly tropical floral prints and terracotta tiles.
The service there was extremely good. The food was a 10/10 as far as all-inclusives go, and about a 8/10 compared to a regular restaurant. The spa was amazing, I definitely recommend a visit. They also had some really nice shops right in the hotel, and even brought in a little mini-bazaar one night for some extra on-site shopping.
The turn down service as mentioned was really nice too, they leave some chocolates, an activity list and drink special for the next day, and turn your tv onto their internal channel with soothing spa-like music.
The bathroom! OMG don’t even get me started. SO gorgeous, and the huge tubs are amazing. The only downfall is that there are sliding barn doors, and no exhaust fans, so if you happen to get a little case of the “Mexicos” it can be a bit embarassing with your SO in the other room! The toilet itself was in a little glass doored room though, so that helped.
One thing to watch out for is the travel club sales pitch. You’ll be offered all kinds of coupons etc… but you get a pretty strong sales pitch to join the time-share. I believe the main sales office is at Marona, so although you may not be pressured to leave the property for a tour, youmight be asked to attend an info session. We would skip the resort coupons next time to avoid the pressure. Every day there is a spa special, or discount on dinners on the beach etc… which makes them cheaper than they would be with the coupons anyway.
Oh… one last thing we did: they offer little classes, and behind the scenes tours which we loved! There’s tequila tasting, margatita classes, wine tasting, massage lessons, kitchen tours etc… and they were really fun, and they give out prizes during most of these too (Also at the entertainment in the evening)

I have not been to Secrets Maroma but we were going between them and where we are actually going which is El Dorado Maroma. I have not been yet, so cannot give you too much info on it. We fly out in 30 days!! We ultimately picked it because our travel agent stated she liked El Dorado over Secrets due to El Dorad being smaller only about 100 rooms. From what I hear, everyone knows your name by the end of the trip and no fighting for beach beds, more personalized service. The downfall of a smaller resort of course is the entertainment but we weren’t looking for that we are looking to go and relax all day on the beach so I hope we made a great pick! Good Luck in your planning! It will be great whatever you decide!

We went to Secrets Maroma for our honeymoon, and it was PHENOMENAL!!! The food was amazing, drinks kept flowing, the room was gorgeous (jacuzzi tub and a tub on the balcony!), the entertainment was fun (especially the fire show!), and the beach was beautiful! If I were to rate it, I would give it 6 out of 5 stars 🙂 If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me. We really couldn’t find anything to complain about, it exceeded our expectations!
