Fiance and I are trying to figure out where to go for our honeymoon and I keep going back and forth. Secrets is newer, but the reviews from Couples are better. Plus, the Couples we are looking into is in Ocho Rios b/c I want to see Dunns River Falls… and that is not an option as Secrets since it’s in Montego Bay… so we are trying to determine if it’s worth it to stay at Couples just for that or if we can miss it and go with Secrets. Also, Ocho Rios is 2 hours away from the airport and Secrets is only 30 mina way from the airport…
Basically it comes down to, which is an OVERALL better experience? Any opinions from any of you who have been to either/both would be great!

No one has been to either of these? 🙁

@cherrycoke: I attended a destination wedding at Couples Tower Isles in Ocho Rios. At first, by the pictures, I thought it was an older hotel. But it was beautiful when we arrived. Airy lobby, three pools, volleyball court, swim-up bar. It had a smaller beach, but it was also a smaller hotel so it was not over-run with lots of other guests. I never felt like I was competing with other guests for towel services, etc. Plus the beach was private so not a lot of outside vendors pushing stuff (I def experienced this in Negril). The drinks were strong and the food was AMAZING. We mostly ate the buffet food, and that was great. (I’m comparing this to anotehr all inclusive where the buffet food was so-so, but the restaurant food was great, only problem is you have to make a reservation at the restaurants which is usually difficult.) And we took a group trip to Dunn’s River falls and it was a great time!
Yes, the location is not ideal. It basically took half the day to fly in, travel by cab/van, and check in. So build this into your timeline.

Thanks everyone. Anyone else??!

With Couples Resorts a lot of the excursions are included (Dunn’s River, shopping…) which adds value to you honeymoon. Both resorts are beautiful but I think if you are looking for a nice quiet escape Couples will give you that experience.

We went to Couples Sans Souci in Ocho Rios and we had a great time. We loved doing Dunns River Falls and I was glad it was included in the cost of our stay. Even though the ride from the airport is long, it goes by really quickly and you get to see a lot of the country, which is beautiful.

We booked Secrets Wild Orchid for this July 2011 and I can’t wait. We went back and forth on a couple places. But in the end we got the best value there, basically we could get a sweet compared to a regular room at the other resorts.
Even though will we be staying in Montego Bay, we are still doing an excursion to the Falls. It just takes longer to get there. But oh well, we really want to go so it is not a big deal at all.

We are doing the Couples Tower Isle mainly due to all the inclusions! It has more inclusions than any of the others did! I have heard amazing things about it and cant wait!

My coworker just got back from Seacrets Wild Orchid in Montego Bay and LOVED it. She’s been to a ton of different spots in Jamaica and she said this is by far her favorite. She said all the pictures online are EXACTLY what it looks like (they didn’t just hype up the website to draw people in). She got back over two weeks ago now and she still talks about it e v e r y day! haha. She did say that this is more of a low-key place. they have nice entertainment, but if you’re looking for a party/spring break crazy place, this probably wouldn’t be it.
She said a major perk too was that it’s only a 20 minute ride from the airport…that’s definitely something to factor in because some of these resorts are a 2 hour bus ride from the airport.
Have fun either way!

@totheislnds: I have just started really considering this resort. I am falling in love with the laid back vibe. Do you have any pics or reviews of the resort? I am very curious. Anything you didn’t like???

I’m also very interested to hear what @totheislands has to say about Couples Swept Away, we are headed there soon!

We are going to Secrets Maroma Beach in Mexico, but we were torn between that and COUPLES SWEPT AWAY in Jamaica. It was a tough decision! But, if we were going to Jamaica, we would have definitely stayed at CSA – we have friends who honeymooned there and absolutely loved it and based on reviews on TA and here, CSA seemed like the best option in Jamaica. Look up the pics on TA, they are beautiful!
