Hi pixierae! I'm a Denver bride too and our photographer is David Wegwart of Photocraftz (www.photocraftz.com). He just did our engagement session and he's great to work with (I can't wait to see the photos, I'm dying to see how they turned out!!). His base package is $1995, including an engagement shoot, but if you have already done an engagement shoot I bet he would work with you to knock a couple hundred dollars off that price.
Another photography company I talked to and really liked is Real Photography (realphotography.com) based in Colorado Springs. They have a "mini package" of $1200 for 2.5 hours of photography and a $1900 package for unlimited coverage on the day. You might be able to negociate for something in between those two options if you want.
Good luck, and I hope that helped!!
I'll be using Adam Welch. He's a Denver based photographer who does photojournalistic style photos. I'll let you know how things turn out!
We're using Sullivan Studios based out of Boulder, and Maureen is incredible! She's a lot of fun and her online gallery is amazing.
The photographer I wanted to hire was already booked for my date. :-( You might check him out for yours though.
Bryan Rupp is in Portland now, but he is originally from Colorado and is totally willing to travel. His packages start at $1500 and all of them come with a full res CD with edited prints and like he says, "The pictures are yours, do whatever you want with them. Wallpaper your bathroom if you want to." :-D
My best friend's husband recently opened a photography business a couple of years ago and he did our wedding. The pictures came out great and he was awesome to work with. We got three discs with all the photos and the right to use them however we want. They moved to Colorado Springs a few months ago from Louisana due to the military. Check out their site for some pricing and photo galleries. I'm sure he will be more than willing to work with you to make sure you get what you want in a good price range.
Here are some of my favorite pics that he took: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27217954@N05/sets/72157612938697711/
Hi Pixierae. You may have seen my review on here by a photography company called Weddings by Tepper. My husband and I were also looking for a photographer in that price range, but clearly I didn't do enough research and I don't want you to make the same mistake. I would definitely NOT recommend using them. After several months of looking for a photographer to fix our pictures, I came across some great people:
Chris Gentile is located up in Ft. Collins and travels to just about anywhere. He may have raised his prices a bit, but he's within your range and does phenomenal work (plus, his price includes an all-day session, therefore you won't feel rushed).
Real Photography is located in CO Springs, but it's a husband and wife team, so you get two for the price of one. They offer some cool extras, such as a photo booth (for free) and shooting your rehearsal dinner. I think you can customize your package with them. I know a lot of Knotties used this, so you'll need to book in advance.
Laura Dombrowski is also an incredible, award-winning photographer. She's probably a bit out of your price range, but you might be able to customize your package with her. She's the one who ended up fixing our pictures and I can't say enough good things about her.
Anyway, hope that helps!
In case anyone is wondering, we ended up going with Mark & Nancy Dudley of Everlasting Images Photography. After the wedding, I'll be sure to review them. :-)
I don't know about Denver, but I live in the NY area and looked on Craigs list and found photographers that were just starting out and needed to get a portfolio started. Good prices.
I'm using 2 sisters. http://2sistersphoto.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=index&CFID=1148305&CFTOKEN=41486300&jsessionid=e0303eeb07846f545041
Its a lil over 1500... They are running a great package right now.
nc80120 - we talked to them, too. They didn't have the right personality for us, and we really wanted unlimited time.
That's great! Nice work.
We ended up going with Cheryl Ungar, who is quite pricey, but I think totally work it.
I have worked with many Denver photographers over the past three years and one definitely stands out from the rest. Jason Long of JLong Photography is great to work with and takes amazing pictures! His wedding rate is only $1500 & includes the engagement and wedding photography. I can't wait for our engagement photo session.
If anyone is looking for a photographer, check out his site:
I had a horrible experience with Cheryl Ungar, so you're lucky you did not work with her.
Please keep in mind that there are 2 sides to every story. Working with nineelevenbride was like walking into a battle zone. Despite the numerous challenges of this wedding, not to mention the several breeches of contract by nineelevenbride, I still fulfilled all of my contractual obligations and delivered quality wedding photography in a timely manner to her.
I am renewing my vows in June. Yay! I didn't really get to plan my first wedding, and now I really want to do it right. I am actually a photographer in denver, and so photos are #1 priority. I am going to use Steve Glass of Glass Photography & Super Team Weddings (not trying to be sneaky, so I'll tell you he's also my business partner too, but he can be hired alone) and Tye Eyden of Tye's Eye Photography.
I think when finding a photographer it's important to talk about your budget with them. If it's someone you really, really, really want it's worth asking about special packages and everything. Communication is awesome. You may end up being able to afford someone you didn't think you could.
I saw a few really good photographers listed above that I really like. David Wegwart (photocraftz) is super talented. Adam Welch is someone I would have hired, but he's not doing wedding anymore. :(
Here are all the photographers I've worked with and I personally recommend:
Steve Glass - http://www.superteamweddings.com
Tye Eyden - http://www.tyeseye.com/
Allison Rose - http://www.arosephotography.com/Home.html
Rachel Terry - http://www.stellar-photo.com/contact_us.aspx
Love all these guys. :)
We booked Katherine Chick/11th Door Photography (www.11thdoor.com). She's reasonably priced & has a super cool personality! Her pictures look awesome and I can't wait for my wedding/pictures. She's traveling all the way up to Winter Park too.
I love this girl, can't wait to get engaged and snatch up our date! Her prices are incredible as wel!!

Hi All!!!
I'm an avid reader and first-time poster. :-) I'm engaged, getting married in May at the University of Denver's Tuscan Ballroom. We're really looking forward to it.
In any case, we had chosen a photographer (she actually sort of found us) who was well within our budget (she quoted us $400.00 since she is new and building up her portfolio). After a lot of thought and a few snafus, we are looking for someone else. We haven't signed a contract with her and would recommend her to someone who could only afford to pay $400, but we think we'd like to pay a little more and find someone with more experience. Our budget is somewhere around $1500.00, give or take a little.
We don't need any prints and really just want good coverage on our wedding day (we've already done an engagement shoot), with a CD with digital negatives and the right to re-print.
Does anyone have any recommendations that they can give us?
Thanks so much!!!
