I need to book a rehearsal dinner space for 50 people in Manhattan (Below 23rd st if possible, but open to going further North for awesome food) in a private or semi-private room. We’re foodies and want a restaurant that will impress our guests, so that superceded location, but we want to stay in Manhattan to avoid having to provide transpo. We trying to keep our budget as close to $3000 as possible and our wedding is Oct 5th, so Im looking to book this asap! Please send recs…

@Linzeye: I’ve been to a function where we reserved the entire outdoor space at Bottino in Chelsea. I don’t remember the food. I know Craftbar has a private room.. The upstairs at Freemans in the LES.. although it will be over 3000 if you add alcohol. The back area at Mercer Kitchen? Public and Thalassa do weddings so they might do smaller events too…

what about Crispo on 14th street? the food is great. I am pretty sure they do a pre-fixed menu but I am not sure the exact price. They have that great side private room, that is like an indoor garden.

Thanks for these suggestions! I emailed Mercer Kitchen and unfortunately Crispo isn’t big enough… But please keep the suggestions coming!! THANK YOU!

Liberty Hall at the Breslin has AMAZING food and is an amazing space, but it will be above your budget. I think they have a 2 hour passed canapes package for $40 a person? That doesn’t include alcohol though.
Some other suggestions:
America Flatbread Pizza – Tribeca
Donatella – Chelsea
Blue Smoke – Gramercy or Battery Park City

Tribeca Grill? The Harrison? Capitol Grille (swoon).

I rarely venture above 14th and had the same query a few months ago when we were contemplating doing a big dinner after our civil ceremony. Here are a few places I’ve been that have great food. There are a few above 14th because I will travel for good food 😉
If you’re open to something casual and fun the Spotted Pig has a private room. Might be too small though.
The Standard hotel restaurant in the MPD has at least one private dining room, we’ve taken clients there before.
Public – at least one private room.
Bobo (I’ve been on the top floor and I think there were about 40-50 people seated for dinner. Cozy but it worked)
The Modern (MOMA)
Bouley Test Kitchen (kind of fun – it’s in an actual kitchen where they cook the food there)
Buddakan- multiple private rooms, have taken clients there, I think the rehearsal dinner in the SATC movie was actually there.
Landmarc (Tribeca) – the upstairs room
Sorella has a few rooms as well.
GOOD luck. Would love to know what you pick!
