Hey Bees – can any of you share a great timeline you might have or have come across? I’m having a hard time figuring out what time certain things should happen. Our day so far looks like this..
8:00 AM – Hair x 7 people
Unsure – makeup x 6 people (hopefully with photog)
Somewhere the time between here and photos beginning the guys will show up
My photog is saying we only need 1.5 hours for bride/groom photos and bridal party photos, somewhere in here we need all of our family photos and wrapped be up by 4:30 PM.
5:00 PM – Signing of marriage licence/interfaith Ketubah
5:30 PM – Ceremony
6:00 PM – Cocktail Hour
7:00 PM – Dinner/Dancing/Etc

You should allow an hour for each hairdo, 30 minutes for each makeup, plus an hour of extra time afterward just to be safe. If the hairdos are fairly simple or easy, then you won’t need a whole hour. How many hairstylists do you have? How many makeup artists?

we have 3 hairstylists, 3 of the girls getting their hair done have fairly short hair (above shoulders) and just want their hair straightened, nothing complicated. One person for makeup (who will meet us wherever, might be easier to have her meet us at the salon).
I’m not a photographer, so I am trusting this guy on what he’s saying..I just really want to make sure we have enough time. My ideal situation would be to have him start with the guys, then come meet us for first look/bridal party pics/family pics. Unfortunately our package only allows for one photographer, no assistants.

If your makeup artist can meet you at the salon, that will definitely help. She can do people’s makeup as they finish getting their hair done. With that many stylists, you should be able to get everyone’s hair done by 11, and the makeup artist will probably be working until noonish to finish up, depending on how fast she is.
Your photographer is right; 1.5 hours is plenty of time for bride/groom and bridal party photos. Maybe you can aim to start those around 1:30 (that gives you plenty of time for lunch). Then by 3:00, you’re free for family portraits.
If you have to travel considerable distances between salon and photo location and ceremony, make sure you factor travel time into the equation. Also, give yourself a half hour’s breathing room in between everything if possible.
