Hey all, I don’t know if this is the right place to ask this question. But I saw a number of positive responses in an old thread about ‘How many have got a plastic surgery’ and that’s what prompted me to ask this here. So those who have gotten the surgery, how did you finally decide on a cosmetic surgeon? Someone asked me this and I had no idea so I am asking you guys, how?

visit a few for consultations, see who you get alone with and make sure they have the same vision as you do for your new look. its just like choosing a regular doctor. make sure they are also board certified.

You can browse the web initially to get an understanding of the market where you are. Look at several doctor’s websites and analyze their pictures. If you realize their work is consistently good then thats a good sign. Moving beyond the aesthetics, check their credentials to see if they are board certified plastic surgeons and what their qualifications are. Do they use an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthesiologist? Do they have hospital priviledges? These are things that may be of importance to some persons in choosing a doctor, but not important to other. Additionally, you should check state government records online to see if they have any malpractice suits against them and you can find out if they carry malpractice insurance. Once you have narrowed your list, set up a consultations. Normally during the consultation you will see who you feel comfortable with. If you are still unsure, ask if they have any patients who you could speak to. That often can be reassuring.

Thanks for the replies. I have forwarded your responses to my friend. She is currently going through different review sites like http://www.realself.com, http://www.goodsurgeonbadsurgeon.com/ etc.
She is planning to shortlist a few and then to go and meet them personally. Thanks for replying once again.
