Can you ask the caterer how much they would recommend?  We’re doing all the alcohol ourselves but working with the caterer on the quantities.

@GoddessofNerdvana:  I have no idea, but if I were you I would look around to see if B.J.s or another large wholesale club will take back unopened cases of bottled beverages. That way you could overbuy by a reasonable amount and return whatever you don’t end up using.

I have found this site helpful when trying to judge how much beverage to have at an event.

It’s tough to say without knowing your crowd. For example, if many of your guests have kids, lemonade will probably be more popular than iced tea. If you’re in the south, then iced tea will be highly preferable to hot tea. Will it be warm for your wedding? How long will your reception last? These are the types of things you’ll have to weigh.
