I’m sure this is a common issue, but I bought my wedding dress a few wees ago (Alfred Angelo 2171,) and while I’ve been in love with it since I bought it, I feel like I’ll end up looking ugly in it. I’m 5’6, recently lost 20 lbs (bringing me to 145) and 5 years before I lost another 45 (orig. 210.) Back then the thought of weighing 145 was like a fleeting dream – never thought I’d be self conscious at this weight!
Anyway, I’m wondering if I made a mistake not going with sleeves. (Posting a picture here with my head cut off!) I see a lot of wedding bloggers condemning the ubiquitous strapless wedding dress, as it can be hard to pull off. I’m still on my diet and hope to lose another 20 by September, but stil am worried…
Like so many girls and brides, am I being too hard on myself? If not, what can I do to either help cover up or tone the sh*t out of my arms?

You look great! You just need to stand up straight.

@asc341: I can definitely relate to feeling self-conscious! I think you, like many women (myself included), are just being too hard on yourself. I know I just have one picture to base my opinions on, but your arms definitely do not look flabby.
I may not be the best person to give advice on this since my goal is to drop at least 30 pounds before my wedding in November, but I did want you to know that you’re not the only bride-to-be who worries about how her body will look in her gown!

@asc341: You have a great figure, and your dress looks beautiful! Your posture in that picture looks self-conscious though. 🙂 Shoulders back, dear, shoulders back. There is no way you’ll look ugly at all, but if you rock this gown with confidence you will be totally stunning.

I wonder if a softer sweetheart neckline might help, the way it is now looks a bit pointy.
Your arms and shoulders look fine, honey (:

You look awesome! Confidence goes a long way, so if you feel good…and you feel confident it will shine through! I think strapless is perfect on you, you have nothing to worry about! Love your dress 🙂

You have lovely arms! Try not to fret, we don’t see what you’re seeing. But…..pushups, pullups and triceps dips are easy to do and effective. And yes, shoulders back and proud of all your beauty and accomplishments!

I agree that you look fine!!! Don’t worry about your arms or shoulders- you look fine!! Congrats on loosing all that weight!! Thats amazing. The only suggestion I have for you is your posture. You can tell that you are slouching. That is the only reason this picture looks off.

Thank you all so much for the support, sometimes we really need to hear from someone else that all is fine…Now to work on that posture! 🙂
