That's smart. We had the same probably, and "small wedding" always shut people up.
I just responded we haven't decided on our location which will dictate the size of the wedding guest list. I think sometimes people just say things like that because they are trying to sound interested and/or friendly.
Yep. I went through it the first two-three weeks of being engaged. I just told them it's going to be a small wedding so don't expect an invite.
Yup, first thing I say when anyone who's not invited asks about the wedding is, "It's a very small, intimate wedding..." It's a great thing to start off with whether they actually just want to hear the details or if they're fishing for an invite, covers all the bases.
Thank God this hasn't happened to me yet! You're smart to confront it though :)
J-Sweet! Don't forget to invite me!
That is just interest and doesn't require any response at all, IMO
I feel like we are inviting EVERYONE in the whole world anyway.... so when people invite themselves I just add them too the list... haha
@MissMeg:hahahahaha.
My mom's friend automatically assumed I was going to have her at the wedding and said I'll se you in a year!! I was like ummmmmm...it's going to be a small wedding!! (I didn't actually say that to her but I was thinking, who are you kidding?!)
@MissMeg: LOL I really wish we could afford that then we wouldn't be having a small wedding. All this stress over the guest list would vanish for us!
@Mrs.MedinaJr: Haha...good for you! We'll have to think of witty combacks for anyone else who posts asking for an invite.
"Sorry...unless I sell a kidney, we can only afford family to be invited"
I think you were right about your fb post. We are going through the same issue right now and it is so hard to tell them sorry but your not invited. I keep blaming it on FI's family count.
I wish I would have gone with a smaller wedding, it is hard though when our immediate family is over 30+ people. We originally started with 50 only & that was it. Now we are at 200 =( oh well. That's what we get when we let our families dictate the where, when & who.

I haven't been putting anything on facebook about our wedding because we can't invite everyone. Well since I got engaged a lot of people are self inviting themselves.
Well today was the last straw. I hope I didn't sound too bridezilla or rude but here is how it went.
J-I love your profile pic!! So when is the big day?
Me-Aw thank you! 11-11-11 :)
J-Sweet! Don't forget to invite me!
Me- Sorry its family only also no kids. We are having a small wedding.
From now on instead of avoiding it I am facing it head on!
