I haven’t, but maybe you could try listing it on Craigslist? That way you would be able to see the money upfront before you hand the girl the dress.

It’s so funny you say that because I have been looking on those sites to buy a dress, and feel the same way about some of the sellers.  :/

@Crazyhair:  Totally agree. I bought mine off of Preownedweddingdresses.com but only after I paid the girl and got about 3 weeks of run-around. I used Paypal though, so I wasn’t too worried about being protected. I was just annoyed that there was no way to rate the girl like Ebay does, so she had no incentive to actually send the package other than whenever she felt like it, and if I wanted the dress I had to deal.

Hey there’s an idea, why don’t you try Ebay? Bet you wouldn’t get any fake buyers there!

Same thing here…even posted mine on the classifieds here on the Bee and get weird messages from people who don’t every post.  I might try going local.

Paypal has some loopholes in timing that scammers can use. Check out escrow.com , it protects buyer and seller. There is a fee but it was totally worth it for us.

@sablemuse:  Ugh, that’s so nerve wracking.  I’ve looked on ebay, but so far haven’t found the dress I wanted.  I’ve got a girl on preowned that has the dress, after a week of waiting for her to respond,  we finally agreed on everything, but yesterday she told me she’s leaving the country for a week, and we can take care of it when she gets back.  I’m nervous she’ll forget, or something….

@MsTargaryen:  Oh no! It’s like the ultimate waiting game!  I’ve been surprised at the lack of response from sellers so far.  I bet I’ve emailed at least 4 sellers, and only one of them responded within the same day.  One emailed a week later, and the other two…nada.  ????

Good luck finding a legit buyer!

I posted on Recycledbride, oncewed, and preownedweddingdresses.com

I got a few weird emails, but just disregarded them, and actually sent them to the moderator of the website.  I think that if you go through Paypal, or escrow.com (like they recommend, but I’ve never used it…I think that Paypal is fine) then you shouldn’t worry because you are protected.  I actually just shipped my dress yesterday that I sold on Preownedweddingdresses.  Just stick with it…if your gut says no, you’re probably right!
