- Wedding: November 2010
I am getting married November 5th, 2010. I purchased the private label by g 1383 dress in all white. The dress was made to my measurements. The first fitting will be at the end of September and the bridal store said that it will 99% not need any alterations except for length. I am considering to sell this dress when the wedding is over because my FH and I need the extra money. We are putting our savings into the wedding and going into the marriage with around $2000 or a little less TOTAL to our name and we’d like to make extra income for back up savings where ever we can. I love my dress and ALWAYS dreamt of it but can’t see saving it forever when years from now my kids may not even want to wear it.
SOOOO for those of you whom have sold your dress or bought a used one. What are the rules and regulations when selling your dres??
1. How do you ship it? – what is the safest and most reliable way and yet the least expensive?
2. Do you have to dry clean and/or preserve the gown before selling it or do you sell it AS IS and let the new bride to be deal with it?
My ceremony & cocktail hour is outside in Miami FL at 5:00pm but we will not be outside for more than 2 hours and then we move into a ball room for the night. I plan to wear my dress for around 10 hours that day. And that’s it……… I do not sweat a LOT even in the Miami heat, though there is sweat and I won’t be drinking a lot. I plan to have one glass of white wine and that is all – I don’t like a lot of alcohol but I do like a good glass of wine.
Any recommendations? I paid $1340 for this dress before any additional alterations and would like all the advice possible to get a great deal if I decide to part with this dress. Any readers interested in purchasing it that we can talk details NOW on what I can do to make a great sale?
