Hello all! Just wanted to get some opinions here...

While I know I can do MY wedding anyway I want, any time I want, I know there are some things that go better in certain seasons. So I want you un-bias opinions here, and don't worry about hurting my feelings...

    So here's the deal...

My fiance and I have always imagined red as our main wedding color, and our families agree. Our datting anniversary is valentines day, so though we are unable to have our wedding on our anniversary like we had planned, we wanted to have a sort of V-day themed wedding, with red as the main color mixed with white, black and silver. Semi-formal black & white reception. We had originally planned to do this in May, which is spring, and though this wouldn't be a typical "spring wedding" we'd be in Washington and it would be rainy anyway, hehe. Now, we've have to move out date to July 23rd, and we'll be having an outdoor wedding (indoor reception) and I still really like the plan I've had! I found my bridesmaid dresses in the red, pictured single red roses with babie's breath as our centerpieces, planned to have a red sash on my dress, imagined my B&W Chelsea Clinton inspired reception.... BUT IT JUST DOESN'T SEEM TO MAKE SENSE ANYMORE!!! Please help! What do you all think?

I think red is the one color that goes with all the seasons -- same for the black/white/silver accents.  My suggestion would be to make sure the fabrics you use are season appropriate.  But I think it sounds great!  Good luck planning :)

    You are fine!

My aunt just got married over the summer. It was semi-formal and her colors were black/white/pink. It looked beautiful and I'm sure yours will too!

I'm getting married July of next year and we're doing red and black with white accents. You'll be fine! No one is going to come to your summer wedding and say, "Wow, what weird colors to pick for summer!" Instead they'll be saying, "Wow, what a beautiful wedding!"

    Do what you want! :)

You'll be fine!  I got married last July and our colors were Red and Gold and there was plenty of white and black incorporated into everything too.  We had a semi-formal, evening wedding.

I went to a July wedding last summer with the same theme... semi formal, red, black, white, and silver - it was very pretty!!!!  Ceremony and reception was outdoors (so the reception was quite humid), but as far as the color scheme, it was beautiful!

I'm getting married in July and our colors are red, yellow and white. :) The black is a given with the men's tuxes. I think it works great! Very classy. :)

Hi-ya almost date twin!!  Our wedding is deep metallic purple, black, white, with hints of bling on July 22!!!  You can absolutely have a red wedding in July.  I don't think it's exclusive to Valentine's day/Feb wedding.  BUT******I would advise you go out right now today and some of this red decor/details that is on sale bc it's the days following Valentine's day!!!!!!!

Thank you all! You guys are awesome. I guess I was never considering changing my colors... becuase I love them! Just wanted some opinions. Thank you to bethers... I re-evaluated our bridemaid dress pick, and we're  going with one that is nearly identical to our original picks, just a lighter material. Only thing I've changed so far. Thanks everyone!

I had a crimson, black, white (with gold/champagne accents) wedding in May and didn't think twice about the color scheme. One thing that my MOH said during my reception as we were looking around the room was - "I think you are saving a lot of marriages tonight! People look like they are falling in love again!" I thought that was the biggest compliment (although I don't know how true it is... but just the sentiment was sweet).

One thing I should mention is: the crimson, black, and white palette didn't really match our outdoor venue so we used our accent color (gold/champagne) for the ceremony and saved the crimson, black, and white for the reception. My bms did wear crimson, I had a black sash, and my bouquet was crimson, but that was the only hint of the color scheme we used in the ceremony. I didn't intend for this to happen, but that made the wedding party and our bouquets really pop! The people became the center of attention instead of the ceremony decorations.

i think having a V-day inspired wedding in July will be wonderful! It will be romantic and your guests will enjoy another opportunity to indulge in some passion and adoration!

    Good luck!

I say go for it!  I don't get why people make such a fuss about colors and the seasons that weddings fall under.... I'm an August bride and will have dark red as my main color.  Oh well, we like it ;)

Wow! I was JUST thinking this same question! I was about to make a post, lol.

My wedding colors I'm considering is Red, Gold, Black and White, and I was thinking of an 'Evening in Italy' theme, but I got soo nervous cause I am worried about heavy Italian foods on a hot day.

Brides, will you post your inspiration and/or reception pics?  I think that will help me and the OP out alot.^^

@LadySapphire: we're having italian food, too! Not an italian theme, but the FI's family is all about living up their italian heritage, and I love pastas. Since we're having an evening reception I can't imagine anything more apropriate and romantic than italian! Maybe french... but I'm not big on french food, haha.

And thanks again to all the ladies! You guys are awesome!

@FutureMrsWright: That is so cool! I was thinking of something like Chicken Marsala, and then have Italian appetizers.  I was thinking of naming the tables after cities in italy, such as 'Rome, Piza, and Venice' so my guests can say that they 'ate in Rome, and had a wonderful Evening in italy' lol.  Is it cheesy? What do you think?

What kind of Italian foods are you having?

@LadySapphire: I think the naming the tables idea is wonderful! I wish I could do something like that, but we're only going to do reserved tables for the wedding party, the rest of the seating will be open.... harder to plan an out of state wedding. You could put pictures of the cities or landmarks on the table markers :-)

We're definitely doing pasta, probably 2 choices, a white or red sauce. And then also two choice entrees.... I was thinking marsala, too! Though parmegianno is always delicious! Appetizers will be italian antipasto trays... and sushi! Haha, the FI and I love sushi. I know it's not italian at all but it's super suits us. Also, def. doing caeser salad because it's my favorite, and bread/butter/oil/vinegar on every table.

Another italin tradition is the jordan almonds, which we'll be doing in our colors.

Haven't thought alot about desert, might just do the cake... but it would be awesome to have some gelatto to accompany it. hehe.

We will be getting married August 2012 and I am planning my colors to be mainly black and white with some red too.  I did briefly think that it might not work for it being in the summer..  But meh..  I don't care anymore ;)   Especially since yours is a Valentines Day theme, it will look gorgeous and have a romantic vibe to it!

@FutureMrsWright: That dinner sounds Wonderful!!  I would LOVE to have sushi at my wedding, but, lol, I'd be the only one to eat it.  It kinda sucks cause we have a fantastic sushi bar in town that does platters.  Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to pay the $40 for one, lol.

I haven't had Jordan Almonds but I've seen them alot, do they actually taste good?

I was considering doing gelatto as well.  My bf has been to Italy and he likes gelato, but says american gelato is nothing like Italian.  soo, idk, but it'd be fun to have gelato colored to the wedding colors. :)

@LadySapphire: I haven't actually had jordan almonds... but I've had almonds and I like them. haha. Jordan almonds are just almonds with a candy coating, so I'm sure they're delicious.

I've found one place that has real delicous gelatto... unfortunately it's in San Diego where I live, but our wedding will be in Washington.

And if you want Sushi, go for it! It's your wedding. Pick what you like, and then if there's some budget left please the others :-) haha. That's what my caterer told me anyway.

    @FutureMrsWright:

I love the idea of your color scheme, regardless of season...probably why I chose the same colors :)  We're focusing more on Black and White with bits of Red and Silver as the accents.

I think you're color scheme it totally classic, and will fit with any season.  Black and White are timeless and don't fit any specific time frame...and red...well, July 4th, Red White and Blue...I'd say red fits in July :)

The point is, as you mentioned, it's your wedding and you can't do it how ever you want it to be...it's gonna be gorgeous :)
