I like this idea!!
I was thinking of doing sparklers, but it seems like such a hassle to get everyone to light them at once and take the pictures before they fizz out...
I like this idea too!
When we got engaged, we happened to have a bunch of glow bracelets lying around (Halloween leftovers), so everyone had one in the pictures. Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't quite right, so it just looked like everyone was wearing really cheap bracelets, lol. I'd do a couple of test shots before you decide!
Found these:

If you decide to go with this, I recently saw packs of 15 glowing bracelets at Michael's for $1 each! We're having a July 4 weekend wedding, so I picked up 7 packs or so. I'm not sure yet whether I'll stick them in the out of town bags or hand them out to the people who come with us after the reception to watch fireworks.
Let us know what you choose!
@lmariea: Actually, that's exactly what I purchased! And get this...when they scan them, they actually come up $.66!! At least here in Indy they did. =) That figures out to be 5 cents a glow stick...what a steal!
Aw, man. Now I'm jealous of your extra discount! ;) I'd love to hear how your experience with them turns out.
It sounds like this could be a great photo op, but you'd have to make sure the conditions were right-- meaning i think it would have to be pretty dark out to fully get the glow.
I love this idea! Are you planning on using all one color glowstick or mixing it up?
Hey, I actually did a glow stick farewell for my wedding back in October. The glow sticks were accidently given out too early but it turned into the best photo op and was so much fun! I'll be uploading pics within the next day or two on my blog. Check it out:
I have seen this idea and it looks really neat! Plus you can get glow stick really cheap at the dollar store sometimes!
how about putting ribbons/streamers on the end of them? that would look great too!
cute and really fun idea!! LOVE @bellenga's idea of adding ribbon/streamers to it!
It ended up working out decent as a send-off....wish it would've been a little darker, but I'm happy we used them. People also ended up wearing them, which was also fun!
Definitely a great end to a great party. =)
we did a glow stick exit for our november wedding. my husband and i love going to Phish concerts together and we really wanted to incorporate something about the band into our wedding, since it's one of our favorite things to enjoy together. coming up with the idea we weren't sure if people would think it was weird or not, but everyone LOOOVED it! we handed out enough for each person to have 3 (600 for 200 people - only cost $40 total from michael's. we used every color that came in the packs) and had our friends instruct people to throw them across the aisle over us as we ran past them. people also picked up the glow sticks off the ground and then threw them again. and it was absolutely the best part of the reception for us. it was sooo so fun to run out to an aisle of people throwing glow sticks above us. it was such a high energy way to leave the reception so we left feeling great and so excited to start our marriage together. it was awesome but maybe wouldn't be as special if it doesn't have any significance to you and your fiance.
@gouldilockz: Where did you find the glow sticks? And what size were they? Thanks! You pictures are great!

Has anyone ever seen glowsticks used for a wedding send-off? It's something I'm considering...I've done google searches, etc. but haven't come up with much.
Is it a good idea or bad idea?
I guess I thought all of the colors/light would make for a neat photo op.
If you find pictures....please post!
