How many people here send Christmas/Holiday cards?
My mom always used to sit down one morning in early December and write out Christmas cards to send to all the friends and family (usually including our school pictures which I always looked horrible in:P).
We’ve never sent Christmas cards, and I don’t know anyone our age (late twenties) who does….just wondering out of curiousity how many people still send Christmas/Holiday cards out each year.

No, but I keep meaning to start 🙂

I do! We send them to everyone too! This year I was thinking that it’s going to be a great time to gather/check everyone’s addresses for save-the-dates!
We save a lot of money buying them because my mom gets them at KMart and such for 90% off after the holidays and saves them for the next year :o)
But yeah, we don’t get that many from our friends.

I voted other. We never sent christmas cards out before, but now that we’re engaged and are about to become our own little family, we’re going to start sending christmas cards this year.
Also, I don’t think it has anything to do with age, just personal preference. Heck, we’re sending out christmas cards and we’re not even in our late twenties yet! (I’m 22, he’s 25)

I will be sending them out for the first time this year. My family never did but now that Im married were sending them out! We got holiday cards printed up with a pic from our wedding. I figured its the only year that we will be able to put our wedding pic on a holiday card. Next year we will do a traditional picture 😉

We send them out! Well, actually, this year we’re sending out holiday postcards. My mom always types up this long letter included in their holiday cards updating everyone on what our family has been up to this past year, but I’m not nearly that dedicated. We use pre-printed cards with a short handwritten note inside. 🙂

I think I have only missed one year, but I will admit that the list of people I send them to has dwindled down to those I get cards from 🙂
This year, though, we are sending cards out with the group shot from our wedding, so I plan to send it to all our guests and people who couldn’t come to the wedding.

Yes I send out cards! I think it’s fun lol. This year FI and I will be sending them out together since we’re engaged and living together. I doubt we’ll receive any though!
I’m with hotchild – I figure this is a great time to get addresses for wedding related stuff!!

@rainbow – good point about personal preference vs. age. *slaps own wrist*
Now that we have addresses for all our friends and family from sending out the wedding invites, now would be a good time to start if we’re going to do this…I think our families will like it but I know some of friends would say we shouldn’t be wasting paper like that – the same ones who told us we should have sent out e-mail invites to the wedding instead of paper ones.
I always like getting a handwritten note in the mail, so I think I’ll take the plunge and send them this year. 🙂

We do! We’re in our mid-20s and have done Christmas cards every year we’ve been together (since graduating college). I love doing it because we always do a photo card – so it keeps people in the loop. The holidays are really a good time to touch base with friends, family and distant loved ones.
Plus, I love getting them back, too 🙂 We display them and love reading the notes.

I started sending my own holiday cards out when I was 18. 🙂

I want to send out Christmas cards, but I don’t have time this year. Now that I have everyone’s addresses though, I may start it up next year!

We do! Actually, I think I’m going to work on mine tonight!

I don’t send them and I don’t particularly like getting them. I don’t like cards in general. I feel bad throwing them out. I much prefer when someone just personally wishes me well during the holidays and I usually speak on the phone with people I can’t see personally around the holidays. Not to get on a soapbox but I kind of feel like the whole Holiday Card/Birthday Card thing is a racket perpetrated on the American people by Hallmark.

no i love getting xmas cards and sending it out! reminds everyone even if we don’t talk often that i remembered them! and receiving them, even if they just sign it, i like that too!
so get this…i’m trying to send out my handwritten thank you cards (about 40-50) AND my xmas cards out (60ish) at the same time…
i feel a bit insane. But i got 15 peoples cards (both xmas and thank you’s) done this past weekend. hoping to get them done before the two month anniversary mark!
