All my save the dates have gone out and I already have multiple out of town relatives calling me and asking for hotel info plus if I am paying for hotels.
I have just decided that we should include a separate card with the invitations so that they have a written note of it…
I was thinking I would just have a quick paragraph saying that if they need to rent a room for the wedding we’ve provided a list of the closest hotels that they can book at their own cost.
So there would probably be info like: hotel name, address, distance from wedding, and telephone number.
I was wondering if anyone had an example of what they did for this and if I should add info like average room price, website, etc.

@ElayneRunner: I had an accomodations insert. Went something like “for your convenience, we’ve located the following hotels” and listed off 2 mid-range hotels. The bottom of the insert referred them to the website which contains more options as well block info that we arranged at 2 hotels. We aren’t paying for any rooms, but we’ve atleast reserved 20 rooms nearby that they can book.

I just listed the hotels and the phone numbers. I assume that most people will just use the internet to research. If it was a long time ago where people would need to call each hotel and find this stuff, I may have included more information. Since you can now google that information in five minutes, I trust them to find it.

We have an accommodations card but we also reserved a block of rooms at a hotel for a discounted rate and we wanted our non tech savvy family to have the info because they would never go online.
Reserving a block doesn’t cost you anything, but it gives your guests discounts. We blocked 60 rooms at a hotel at a rate of $79 per night and the usual rate is $140. If they don’t like the hotel they can search on their own but we got an amazing rate for this block, better than any other hotel could give us.

@ElayneRunner: I think what KristenLiz said is the norm. We did a block of rooms at a discounted rate & included an accomodations card in the invite. If cost of another inclusion in your invitation is a concern then just post the info on your website if you’re using one & use word of mouth as well.
We only did one hotel block, but I know others do blocks at multiple hotels at different price points so that is something to consider if you have some guests that stay in luxury hotels & some that stay in budget hotels, etc.
