So I’m not getting married until the end of September, and I wasn’t going to have our guests RSVP until September 1st, but now I find out that our venue needs all our catering numbers the beginning of August !!! Should I send out invites now ? soon ? I don’t want people to forget about the wedding, but I need the numbers in !

My venue requires the same thing. As a result, my invites are going out in early July to get head count for mid-August. I honestly don’t like the idea of waiting until 2 months before the wedding anyway (it just seems to rushed for me and I’m a control freak…AND to top it off, we’re moving and the invites were printed with our current address) so invite etiquette (well, timing-wise anyway) is being thrown out the window.
If you need to get the numbers, send ’em out.

What? That’s insane. I feel for you having to make your guests make a decision by that early. Give them 4-6 weeks from receipt of invitation to RSVP deadline and make your deadline maybe 6 days before you have to give your numbers to the caterer.
They seriously need absolutely final numbers by almsot 2 months in advance? That’s really not cool, but I suppose there’s nothing you can do about it.

@mrsSonthebeach: oh I know !!! I know for a FACT they aren’t going to be buying any food or anything that early ! they are just doing that so I guess high and spend more money =( which is sad on their part……..
what also sucks is Sept 1st is printed on the invitations already !!!! So everyone is going to be confused as to why they are getting them so early ! oh well……. can’t change it now
