@weim-love:  No worries…I’m sure you will get this fixed and I agree that it does show that there is discoloration.  It will be OK though, just let your photographer know too so that when they take pics of your rings it doesn’t show on them.  After the wedding, you can get it fixed and it will be back to normal.

@weim-love:  Yes, I can definitely see the side stone you’re talking about.  It sounds like something happened to that stone and they tried to fix it by replacing the stone.  The bigger problem IMO is that they did that without telling you!  They will certainly need to replace the inferior stone with a stone of equal quality to what it was when you brought it in, but it will be interesting to hear their story.  Update us tomorrow!  It will all be ok!

I think what happens is that something used in the cleaning process can get stuck under a pave diamond. I’ve read about this before. I think it’s an easy fix, but I suppose it could be something else.

What the heck? That’s so weird. Do you have any “before” pictures of the ring at that angle that you could possibly show us, or show to the jeweler?

@weim-love:  I do see what you mean, but honestly since it’s on the side I don’t think it will be noticeable to other people. I got my ring cleaned/re dipped once and it came back with a YELLOW stone. I figured that something was way wrong with it but I took it back and they just dipped it in some cleaner and it was all fixed. Maybe something is trapped underneath the diamond? Have you tried putting it in some jewelry cleaner?

Here’s a picture of the yellow stone on mine for reference.

Hopefully you see where it is..lol It’s not that noticeable on the picture but it was in real life!

@BlondeMissMolly:  I have heard the same thing from ahother Bee.

OP: If you bring it back they will clean it better. As for your big day I would tell the photographer so they don’t take pictures of the gray stone side.

It looks like those 3 melee stones in row are a little dark, so I would definitely guess it has something stuck under there from cleaning/polishing. If you received it new that way it would be a different story but I’m sure they didn’t switch your 3 melee stones…those cost like…less than $100 for all 3 probably. Wouldn’t be worth it to them.

@weim-love:  I agree with BlondeMissMolly. I think it’s something stuck under the stone. Hopefully the jeweler can get it fixed for you 🙂

that happened to mine too!.I’ve had it sent out and cleaned twice and it still is dark. At first they denied any discolouration, and then they said it must be trapped dirt. Well since it’s been cleaned I doubt that’s what it is for mine. I’d have yours sent to be cleaned agin as PPs have said and see if that is the problem.

I mentioned to them that the diamond may have been switched but of course they said that’d be illegal. No way to prove it.

Just keep on them and hopefully you’ll get lucky. You are lucky it’s a side diamond. Mine is dark on the smaller diamond of my three legendary style ring.

Don’t worry yet! keep us updated. i’d like to know what they do for you and what the soluton is

Why dont you ask them if a stone was replaced? Regardless, tell them you don’t like the look and to replace the side stone. My jeweler replaced them for free. It’s no big deal, even if you had to pay it wouldn’t be very much.
