My BF and I have been fighting recently. I know it’s a two way street and we both have our faults, but I’m also aware that I’ve been especially demaning and that this puts a huge stress on him, which in turn stresses our relationship (obv.). He’s going through a tough time with work as well, as he just got laid off and is very unsure of what his next step professionally will be.
We’ve been together almost a year and a half and it’s mostly all been long distance. We love our time together and have lots of fun but sometimes, like recently, we just butt heads and need some time apart to breathe. He can be very difficult to deal with sometimes but I know he loves me more than anything and I want to do something really sweet for him that shows how much I treasure our relationship. We are not into materialistic things and didn’t do much of anything for our one year. I did make him a little book of us with photos/poems/things we’ve done together. He says he likes it but he’s just really not very expressive at all and so it comes down to taking his word for it. Which is fine because he’s also the most brutally honest person I’ve ever met, so that’s actually quite easy to do.
I’m just unsure of what to do for my guy to make him feel special and secure. I do everything I can think of on the regular. His work is physically demanding, so I spend lots of time giving him backrubs and trying to pamper his body when we are together. I write him letters frequently even when we’re not LDR as tokens of my affection. He is a real simple guy (a meathead, as he would say). He is a former wrestler who likes guns, drugs (not at the same time) and girls, thankfully me more than any other. He is great with people and used to work as a counselor for troubled teenagers, having had behavioral troubles himself as a youngster. He loves to laugh and have a good time but only in comfortable places. Going out in large crowds is almost always a no-no. For example, he loves music but concerts stress him out.
I must admit I’m fresh out of ideas which is a total bummer because I like to think of myself as an idea person. I wouldn’t normally turn to the internet for help but I’ve read some posts on here and all you ladies seem very intelligent and insightful! If anyone has a similar guy in their life or any suggestions I would be so thankful!
