BurlapnLace:  I don’t have a picture of the one I made, but I made my husband and I an ornament for our first christmast tree out of our wedding invitation, such like the one attached.  Just cut your invitation (or maybe the lyrics to your first dance song?) in small strips, wrap it around a pen to make it curly, and stick it inside the glass ornament. (You can get these at Michael’s or other craft store for a few bucks).  They sell them on Etsy for some astronomical price….but..so easy to make…and I’m not crafty!

If you’ve already agreed not to exchange gifts, then stick to that agreement. Maybe instead of gifts you can make a date to go ornament shopping and pick one really fancy/heirloom-quality one together as your gift to each other.

BurlapnLace:  Do you have a spare wedding invitation left? Or one you could copy?

You can cut it into strips and place inside a clear glass ornamant. Add some embellishment in your wedding  colors on the outside- burlap and lace?

I keep journals. I write in them everyday. I gave him the Journal entry from the night of our first date. I also wrote vows. I had the journal entry and the vows framed. The groomsmen told me he cried when he read them. He put the frame on his night stand.

BurlapnLace:  Yeah, the days leading up to my wedding I cried like a baby. Mainly beacuse I was and still am just so grateful. It felt like a dream come true. Today makes 30 days of marriage, and would probably cry right now if I thought about it hard enough. Enjoy every second of it. And worry too much about the gift. He’ll love whatever it is. My husband gave me a 1 1/2ct Sapphire and diamond necklace on our wedding day. I was fine until I saw it. I remember telling him years ago I had always loved blue sapphires and that I would never be able to afford one. I opened that box and lost it. He rememebered something I told him almost 6 years ago. Congrats to you!

Frame a simple sentiment with the date of your wedding. You can print this on the computer then add a map of your locale. I think you have said you work for a printer. perhaps they would print it out for you in the colors of your choice.

Cute gift idea for the bride & groom. [http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/littlebirddesigns/product/personalised-map-picture]

What about framing the very first photo you ever took together?

BurlapnLace:  save the song lyrics idea for your 1 year anniversary – 1 wedding anniversary is paper and thats what i gave to DH

For the wedding gift, I gave DH cuff links with a picture of his grandmother in them. It was his favorite picture of her, on her wedding day . She passed away and I wanted him to have a little piece of her with him.

Maybe you can do that, or like you said, you like christmas ornaments, so maybe a personalized christmas ornament with something sentimental written in it?
