Looking for some of your best Sephora lip product recommendations. My current lipgloss (not from there) dries up pretty quickly and then cakes off quite a bit. It leaves a yellowish gel on my lips that I have to wipe off. The only Sephora product I have is an Urban Decay eye shadow primer which I love and I’d be interested to check out more of their stuff.

I really like Bite products. Their lipsticks and glosses are some of my favorites. Not all Sephoras carry them though.

I honestly have yet to find a Sephora lip product that I like. I tried their stains and lipsticks and keep going back to MAC’s Russian Red.

@weightwatchers152: The Buxom products 100%. Buxom associated with bareMinerals and Bare Essentials. I personally love their lip gloss. It’s not tacky and it definitely doesn’t leave a yellow residue. Tarte lipstains are also nice if you’re just looking for something to carry in your bag that’s more in line with a heavily tinted chapstick than a lipstick. Then if you’re looking for a full on lipstick, I would definitely look into Smashbox and Make Up Forever. Smashbox has a fairly moisturizing formula in theirs. And if you’re looking into a matte lipstick, I would look into Nars products. I’ve never used them, but they generally get good reviews from users and a few of the makeup blogs I frequent.
In general, I find that if you’re looking into a particular brand to figure out if the line is moisturizing, long lasting, opaque vs sheer, etc, googling “Brand lipstick” is generally going to garner good results. But pay attention to if they’re blogging in a paid advertisement and if they are getting compensated for the product placement or not. Make sure you get a review that is unbiased. Also keep in mind that the within a single line, the quality of the lip product can differ – something to do with chemistry, pigmentation, and that kind of thing.
Hope that helps just a little!

It was actually a MAC Dazzleglass that my make up artist from my wedding last year recommended. Dazzleglass in Smile. Loved it for months but these past two tubes have been awful. It’s too bad, I love the colour.
I think I might have Russian Red! I bought it years ago and I remember the colour being awesome.
I might pop into Sephora just to see.

@musician32992: Hi again, just wondering if you apply anything else like a primer to help it stay, or if you just reapply it as needed? Thanks and have a great day!

@weightwatchers152: I don’t use a primer but I do have to make sure to exfoliate my lips first or it looks clumpy from dry skin.
