@lilkimmi703: mmm...if you've been to sephora and liked the job they did, i would go with them. I personally find mac to be way to heavy for my face. They put too much on me.
If you decide to go with mac, definately give them a trial run before, just in case you don't like them.
I like having my makeup done professionally. I've had it done both at MAC and Sephora. I prefer MAC because I just felt like it lasted longer without looking like stage makeup. Their products always translate well on film too.
@lilkimmi703: I wear MAC for my everyday makeup and its fab. I would get it done professionally for the engagement shoot.
Well.. mac will stay on but its HORRIBLE for your pores and usually looks caked on. Sephora has lighter make up (some still not so good for your pores) but you can get lighter make up and set it and it will still last all day
how do you usually wear you makeup?? Mac usually puts a LOT on.. so i guess it depends on your style too!
with MAC, just be careful because they can get heavy-handed sometimes. It lasts forever, but I usually go to them for more dramatic makeup rather than lighter looks. Both are great places, though. Smashbox is a good place to visit (usually in Nordstroms), too! :)

As others have mentioned, I find tha MAC artists a bit heavy-handed, and any protests seem to fall on deaf ears. They tend towards one "look" -- lots of foundation and an intense eye -- which isn't always best for the face or what the client is looking for.
While Sephora MUAs aren't always the most experienced, I find their general enthusiasm, willingness to try new/differest products, and overall desire to please the client a fairly winning combination.
If you're already comfortable doing your own makeup, I might suggest going to Sephora for some tips/products and doing it yourself (this is the route I'm going for my own wedding-day look).
I know the other bees are saying that they found that mac is too heavy and too dramatic, but I wear their make up everyday and had them to do my makeup for our engagement photos and they did a great job. They kept it really natural looking for me.

Ok ladies. I have engagement photos next week and I have appts set up both at Mac and Sephore to get my makeup done. Ive had it done at Sephora once before, they did a great job but I heard Mac is like the makeup god....I was thinking about trying it out but I cant decide! Also I can do my makeup pretty well....should I get it done professionally? or wait til the big day? I need opinions....
Thanks!
