@emmalyn:  I thought the “13th” superstition was only about Fridays!  Shows what I know!

We picked September 20th, but not because we were avoiding the 13th.  I can definitely see where you’re coming from if you’re superstitious.  Pick the 20th! That’s a good date. 😀

I didn’t want the 13th, but that was mainly because FI’s birthday is 2 days later (I think his dad’s bday is on or right before the 13th too).  We didn’t want special occasion overload, LOL.  The number 13 is considered bad luck in some cultures, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if that was the reason why the date wasn’t taken yet.  We picked the 27th for our wedding.

We got engaged on a 13th… not a Friday, but it wouldn’t have mattered to me anyway! I understand wanting to avoid it because of superstition but if it made the difference between having a dream venue or having to go elsewhere, then I’d probably say forget the superstition 🙂

I would personally not have any problem with the 13th.  But since other people may be avoiding it, I would ask the venue for some discount or freebies.

We’re getting married on the 13th. We aren’t superstitious, and in many cultures the 13th is good luck.

But I have noticed when booking venue/photographer/caterer… most are available that day, so you aren’t alone in avoiding it.

That’s funny.  I guess every seven years our anniversary will be on a Friday the 13th, but who really cares?

That’s funny. It seems like it was the opposite in my area. I was venue hunting for my friend and a couple places only had the 6h ot the 27th left open.

My cousin is getting married on Friday the 13th of June… He’s not worried. They picked the date because the date they wanted was booked. I guess there wern’t a lot of people willing to get married on Friday the 13th lol

I didn’t actually get married on the 13th, but I definitely would have if that had been the weekend that worked. Not supersticious about the number 13!

@emmalyn:  We wanted end of Aug for our wedding, but another friends destination wedding is then and we won’t be back from it until Aug 25. So Aug 30 was too soon, Sept 6 is another friend’s wedding, so our next date was September 13. Since its an outdoor wedding in Canada, I didn’t want to push it back any further!

But we are embracing the 13th. One of my best friends, who is in the wedding party also got married Sept. 13. So its a special day all around for us.

I almost got married on Friday the 13th.  The 6th opened up and that was just a better day for us, but we would have done the 13th if needed.  I’m sure you’ll be fine!

@emmalyn:  I’m getting married on Sep 20th.  We narrowed it down to the 13th or 20th.  I’m not really superstitious but I figured if both were available, why chance it, lol.

ETA: The date by my name is wrong.
