What are your wedding colors?  We're still trying to figure out our exact shades, but we're thinking a mixture of Light Blue, Dark Purple, and White.... We're getting married in Santa Cruz, Ca so it'll be beach themed.

Our colors are just different shades of green and hints of white....I guess it is simple.

Me too!  I told my FH that he could pick any Saturday in September, since I just couldn't handle the pressure of choosing :), and he picked the 19th!  His reason, sort of like cj2009 - our anniversary is August 19th, so he's sure he remember.

Evening wedding in an old theater in Kansas - colors are red and gold!

    Hi!  I am a 2 ceremony bride - 9/12 and 9/19.

Our ceremony on the 19th is the more "traditional" one at a sand-stone church with stained glass windows.  The church is pretty dark because lighting is limited to antique lanterns, so during the ceremony I am using traditional colors of ivory, green, and maybe yellow.  The reception will bring in the colors that I love: pink (hot pink), raspberry (more purple), and green.  The girls will have pink/purple dresses from Ann Taylor (dupioni silk) - now on sale for $39.99 (score).  For girls looking for ocean blue bm dresses, the dresses I selected also come in this color and are the same price in sizes 2 - 18 (great deal).

So, I can check off the following: church, reception site (includes catering), photographer, and bm dresses.  I guess my dress is next, but I am so indecisive that I am nervous about getting it too early.

Does anyone else feel overwhelmed when looking at monthly wedding checklists?  I have a love / hate relationship with mine.

Hi! We are getting married on 09.19.09 in downtown Chicago and are so excited! We love our date--we wanted a September wedding but didn't want to have it over a holiday weekend, so it works out well, plus it's a memorable set of numbers! :) As for what we've got covered so far--the venue, officiant, photog, videog, DJ, makeup artist, hair stylist, my gown, and my shoes.

We're still trying very hard to find a decently priced, good quartet for the ceremony music and I need to get the ball rolling on the BM dresses. I'm still on the fence about our colors--I' thinking a deep blue with a bright (almost lime) green, but it might depend on what BM dress color we choose.

And yes, I also have a love/hate relationship with the checklists! They make me feel so behind on some things!

We are also not sure when to do our Engagement photo shoot--when are you ladies doing yours? Are you sending out STDs, and if so, when--March? April? We're also not sure when to start registering!

Happy new year, everyone! Best of luck planning! :)

Hello! I'm 9-19-09 as well and planning a vineyard wedding in Western VA. My fiance is in Iraq, so we did a lot when he was home on leave. We have the vineyard, the church, the photographer, my dress, engagement photos done, done, and done! My main color is Dark Navy (to match his uniform), and fall colors in the flowers and decor. I'm new to Weddingbee but really excited! Good luck to everybody's planning!!!

YAY!!! I am getting married on 09-19-09 too! I love 9!!!!!!!!!!! I wanted to get married on 09-09-09 but that is a wednesday:( haha! I am so excited! Congrats to you all too! We are getting married at a ranch resort in eastside tucson! I recently went cake testing with my fiance and they said we were REALLY early! When should I register? For the lady above, I would take your engagement photos in March or April! That way you have time to send them out in your invitations if you choose.  Does anyone know of a cheap place to have a honeymoon? We are young and he is still going to be in school!

    Thanks~!

Hi guys! Congrats!  I really love our date too, although originally we were leaning towards June.  Now I can't imagine a better date than 9/19/09!

We're getting married on the lawn of a historic mansion on long island sound, here in CT!

@lilikoi: Our engagement has been super long too ( 2 yrs. 3 mos. when we get married). Like you, I am SO ready! And so excited to finally be able to do all the things that have to be done!

As for colors, I have been reading on the boards that a lot of people are of the opinion that as soon as its September, you're in "fall color" territory, but I am desperately trying to make our wedding a "last hurrah" for summer, so in keeping with that we are going with several shades of green (think lush moss green and limes) and a bright bright blue, tempered with chocolate brown (don't want to overwhelm people!).

@ Mac9: I wanted to register before Christmas, but it just didn't happen.  I'm still thinking the sooner the better, but that's just the kind of bride I am.  Where are you going to register? What is everyone else doing? Also, we're going on a cruise for our honeymoon, which isn't too too bad price wise (but ours is being gifted to us).

@jollydz3: We'll probably do engagement photos in June if our photog isn't too busy. And I want the stds to go out late Feb., early March, does that sound too early to all of you? A lot of my guests will be travelling...!

And let's see, this is what we have done so far: booked venue (not including caterer), photog, baker (for cake), bought dress, booked honey moon.  We've also looked into caterers and are close to booking one.  I've also done a lot of my DIY: crafted STDs, worked on making bouquets, printed cocktail napkins and stirring sticks. But I have a lot more to do!

I really love this feature! It's great to have you guys to bounce ideas off!

It's never too soon for a Registry, in my opinion... We registered before he left in November and I've been amazed at all the stuff people are buying already. We got a few things for Christmas-- 2 place settings of our China, etc. Plus enagement gifts, plus shower gifts--- I say go and register whenever you're ready.

Right now we only have one registry at BedBathandBeyond... they had pretty much everything we wanted, they have a fantastic return policy, and you get a discount when you close the registry. I hear Target isn't the greatest.

Has anybody else gone dress shopping/looking yet?

Wow, some of us are registered - that is awesome.  We are trying to decide on a traditional registry or a honeymoon registry.  I don't really want a lot of gifts b/c we both own our homes and when we get married we will have to consolidate.  Is anyone else doing a honeymoon registry?  What about simply registering with a travel agent?  I heard that someone did that before and it worked out great b/c the travel agent kept collecting $ even after the trip was paid for and simply gave it to the couple in cash!

I got a jump on bm dresses, which forced me to stick with a color scheme. Like Katie, I am also going the opposite of fall colors and consider my wedding colors to reflect "A Late Summer Bash."  So, I am going with muted colors for the ceremony b/c I read somewhere that if the church is pretty dark you should use a simple color scheme.  The flowers will be ivory with different shades of green.  The only exception are bm dresses that the girls ordered online from Ann Taylor.  They are pink/purple, so my bouquet will have that mixed in.  Also, if anyone wants to save on anything Ann Taylor, I have a 20% off code that lasts a few more days.

The reception, on the other hand, will have bursts of color.  I know it might sound odd, but I love the idea of 2 totally separate spaces.

Is anyone else doing 2 separate themes for ceremony and reception?

WOW! Thanks for the feeback about registering and honeymoon options... We will definitely be making a trip to Bed Bath and Beyond, and Target.  Is it okay to have more than two places to register at, or will the guests think we are being demanding? I just want them to have options... Also, the green hues sound gorgeous!  I am thinking a deep red or maybe a teal blue-ish color... Can you believe it ladies-we will be married in less than nine months!

I'm so excited that there are so many 9.19.09 brides September 19, 2009 : wedding Icon Biggrin

@ArmyBride: You guys are registered already??  Wow, I'm impressed.

We too, are thinking of Target and BBB... what good choices =)

@Mac9 and Katie: We are doing a cruise to the Bahamas as a gift from the parents (it's a free certificate they have for a one week cruise).  I would say look for deals on cruises.  I believe Sept may be around hurricane season but people say that the chance is so low, that it is worth taking the chance for the price cut.  But don't take my word on it... this is my first cruise and first time to the bahamas.  I would do more research.  Also, Costco is a good way to go.

I think you guys can do any colors you want because Sept is kinda summer but not full blown fall yet.  It would depend on your venue.  Ours is off the beach boardwalk... and it's always sunny in Cali... so we are doing more summer colors.

I have not done much because I was busy with school, but now that I've graduated, I can start on DIY projects!

Things I've done/booked are: Venue, Photog, Videographer, Dress.

    Yikes, that doesn't seem like a lot.  I better start cracking!September 19, 2009 : wedding Icon Sad

Well we registered out of necessity- He was headed back to Iraq until this summer, so we went ahead and get it done. He wanted to be a part of things, so we went together and set it up while he was still home. We also did enagement photos from a website called oplovel.org-- they do free photos for families on deployments.

So far I have :the church, the vineyard for the reception, the photog, the cake, some of my accessories. Next on my list are save the dates and to book the caterer. Have any of you thought of when you're sending out your Save the Dates? How do I compare on getting stuff done so far?

And it's crazy but we already have a bunch of stuff bought off of the registry. Haven't gotten any of it, but people are buying. Nuts.

9/19/09 looks so awesome. I, too, have a thing with numbers. This date means alot to me.

I am very surprised by the early registering, but it's got me thinking about doing it soon.

We have everything booked, color/theme picked, dress bought, BM dresses picked out, STDs going in the mail this week. Our friend is doing the invites. Colors are wine and Champagne. We are doing a wine/vineyard theme. Decorating with wine bottles, corks and grapevines. So classy.

We are originally from Michigan but moved to Kansas City, Missouri back in May (enagaged the following month). We are planning the wedding back in MI. It's kinda difficult to plan a wedding that far away.

Congrats to everyone and happy planning!

9.19.09 This must date. 5 people I know are getting married on this day too!! I also live in Kansas City! Congrats to everyone and happy planning!!!

Oh by the way: We were debating on 9/19 or 8/28(due to our friends getting married on that day). I had received a invite catalog in the mail during this debate of dates. The first page I turned to was a save the date page with 9.19.09 plastered all over it! That help with my choice! Good Day!

I'm a 9.19.09 bride too!!!  It was the only day that would work w/ the location (and the fact that one of my best friends is getting married 2 weeks before and another one is 2 weeks later.)   Its such a graphically pretty date and since I'm in the design field, it makes things ALOT easier from my perspective.

We're getting married in a small little historic chapel on the Outer Banks of NC (where I've been vacationing w/ my fam for over 25 years).  Our colors are Navy and lime w/ a hint of light rose pink. I feel behind on everything.... I'm swamped with trying to finish my last semester in grad school, but I'd much rather be doing fun wedding planning stuff.  We have the dress(maybe?  Havent tried it on yet), the locations, the photographer and our wedding party. The Save the Dates will go out in March.  I still feel WAYYYY behind on the planning, PLEASE tell me I'm still on top of things and dont have a reason to panic.  I fell like september is coming so soon and trying to plan a distance wedding w/out a planner is tough.

@ArmyBride:  You're amongst friends! My fiance's in the army too! I'm so new to this whole military thing. where will you two be stationed once you're married?

@ArmyBride2009, I plan to send the STDs in March.  I might start a little early for people who have to travel out-of-state and whose address I already have.

I just booked the cake lady this weekend and I am so excited.  I had to drag my fiance along, but he really helped because he chose cupcakes and it saved us $1.00 per guest.  Hooray!

I still have not tried on dresses - I am procrastinating on that one.  I am close to choosing flowers after meeting a wonderful couple at a bridal show today.  Time is ticking . . .

I'm leaving town soon for about a month, so I'm going to get the STD's done this weekend. I'm finishing up my vendor appointments too-- this week I'm deciding on a florist and a day-of coordinator. Then I should be done "booking" and then comes all the details- setting the menu, finishing up with my bridesmaid dresses, and allllll my DIY projects. Including those pesky invites... Yikes!

How is everybody else's planning going? Are you still booking major vendors?

Hello Date Twins!  And also, hello down the road to Army Bride!  I'm planning a wedding in Waynesboro, VA.

I have sent out my Bridesmaid/Groomsmen cards, STDs (with Christmas cards, as half of our guests will be flying in from OR,) purchased supplies for invitations, created centerpieces similar to the look of manzanita branches, have been making pink pomanders for MONTHS...sheesh these DIY projects take wayyyyy longer than I bargained for.

I am having trouble finding a DJ who isn't cheesy and on a pretty tight budget, as well as a cake baker in my price range, but so far have all of my vendors booked.

Come on 09.19.09...we can't wait for you to get here!

I am a 9-19-09 Bride!!! I am so excited! After reading some of these posts, I must admit I feel behind! We are getting married in my parents backyard. The theme is a 'green' wedding with organic food from local sources, biodegradable paper goods, and lots of green apples! We are making and 'canning' apple butter in tiny mason jars to give out as favors. Our place cards are tied to apples, and the bm's dresses are apple green. The accent color is eggplant with a very small splash of bright orange. My FH is English so we have to send out our invites early. I just bought a gocco and have had a great time designing our stationary! We are not doing save the dates to cut back on paper waste so we are sending out our invites early.

Yay for us! We all picked a great day! I wish you all the best on your/our big day!

    @Pixieduster,

Wow! Waynesboro! That is just down the road!! My reception is at Cross Keys Vineyards, but it was almost at Veritas on Afton.

Check out Mom's Cake Cupboard in Grottoes. Her name is Dottie and she runs her business right out of her home. Her cakes are the best around, and her prices are VERY reasonable. Every wedding I've been to in the last few years has served her cakes.

My big DIY projects left are the invitations and the programs and finishing up my favors.

Sept 19/09 is my date too! :)

And my birthday is on the 23rd, during our honeymoon - anyone else with a birthday that week?

I live near Toronto Canada...wedding colours are purpley-blues with possibly some green in the flowers.  I'm wearing Jenny Packham 'Edie'.

    So far we have:

The venue - a golf club

    The dress - see above

Bridesmaids dresses picked out but not ordered - Alfred Angelo 7016 and Jasmine/B2 B2037 in various shades of purpley blue (didn't want everyone in the same colour)

    Photographer

And that's it!  I may be a bit behind on some things but I'm not too worried!

    cheers to 09.19.09!

we picked this date randomly.. but then it worked out perfectly because 1) i made my fiance wait 9 months before i agreed to be his gf and 2) to get back at me, he made me wait for 9 years.... yes 9 years.  so i guess "9" is sorta our special #.

we're getting married in so cal... so our falls are like our summers anyway.  colors are black, white, and sage.  girls are wearing black knee length dresses.  those were my gifts to my bm's so i wanted the dresses to be something they can wear again. flowers and decorations will be primarily white and sage.  but we're using black floor length table linens for a dramatic effect.  hopefully it will look as good in real life as it does in my head.

the only thing we have left to do is find a florist.  other than that, were done with the planning.  the last thing we did was our registry.  we did 1) honeyfund.com  2) bed bath and beyond, and 3) macys.

congrats to all of you and happy planning!
