Any September 25, 2010 brides around?
We originally wanted to wed on August 21 but because our venue wasn't available it is now September 25, 2010! For some reason, whenever I share the date with anyone they have been saying "September 25, 2010 has a great sound/feel to it"... I agree, and I'm not sure why.
What have you started to do? We have the church and reception booked but other than that it is mostly just a lot of ideas and to-do lists.
Hi, we are a week before you on 9/18/2010. So far we have the ceremony and reception venue booked, the photographer booked, planner and florist booked, guest list started, custom dress started, invitations started, and musicians selected.
I'm another September 25, 2010 bride
I think it has a fantastic ring to it. The real reason we picked it though was because it'll be 5 years to the day since my fiance and I started dating, so it definitely has a special meaning for us beyond just being our wedding day.
Thus far, we've booked our photographer, we know who's doing my hair (same hair dresser I've had for years), and everything else is still up in the air. We're having our reception at my parents' land... we'll be getting a huge tent, so we don't have to book the site, we just need to book the tent. And we have a pretty good idea who we're getting to make our cake and who we want as our caterer. We haven't booked a ceremony site yet because we're not quite sure what we want to do (church, outside, at a different venue, etc...).
Mostly, I've been getting together my ideas and working on some DIY projects. I have been cutting down wine bottles for centerpieces (ala Miss D'Orsay) and I already made and handed out "Will You Be My Bridesmaid?" cards. But, we're not quite in the time crunch, so I've been taking my time with things and really making sure that the choices we make are what my fiance and I want. I like the long engagement... it's definitely given us time to breathe and hopefully I'll use the time wisely so that I won't be as stressed the last few months leading up to the wedding.
Holy hell, you guys are stressing me out. We probably won't be engaged until this summer, and we're planning on getting married in July 2010. I need a venue nailed down, STAT!!!!
Oh no! Don't get stressed! I'm just trying to be proactive because I'm in law school and I'll graduate, take the Bar Exam, and get married in a 5 month span. Please please please don't get scared because of me. If you look at most of the wedding "timelines" out there... we haven't really even hit the beginning yet. So, take a deep breath... and I am so sorry if my minor OCD-ness caused you any stress! Good luck with planning your wedding :)
I am also getting hitched the week before you! So far we have signed the contract for our venue and reception site, chosen a photographer, sent the "will you be in my wedding" gifts, had our engagement pictures taken and are in the process of making our save the dates! I'm also enjoying beginning those DIY projects that only long engagement brides like us can do! WE just made hanging door letters for our church doors this past weekend :) I love having this time to relax and enjoy the planning process, hopefully I get enough done early that I can relax when the date nears!
Like @tbrooke, I'm also a little OCD when it comes to organizing and planning, so I wouldn't worry about not having started anything yet!
I'm a September 25, 2010 bride:) It's the most beautiful time of year in PA.
I'm a September 25, 2010 bride. We have our ceremony and reception venues booked. Our next step is the photographer.
I have been dress shopping a few times and already have our entire wedding invitation suite designed, including escort cards, menus, programs and table numbers.
I'm not too worried about the other elements, as there is plenty of time ot get them taken care of!
Congratulations ladies!!!!!
I'm also a week before you bride! (Sept 18th 2010!).
So far the only thing that is 100% done is the venue. Booked it about a week after I got engaged, but my FI and I knew we really only wanted to look at this one place. Everything else is slowly starting up...I'm e-mailing photographers, I've been to two bridal salons to try on dresses, and I have a few dozen pictures of wedding stuff saved on my comp.
We're planning on getting our first house 2months before we're married, so I'm hoping to get enough stuff done now so that I'm not ubber stressed when the date nears, while still going at a relaxed pace. :)
Sept 25 2010 bride here! Can't wait, especially since we've been engaged for almost 2.5 years... what now!?
Sept 25, 2010, it's going to be the best day of our life! I'm getting married in RI and hoping that fall foliage will be great then.
So far, I have the venue/ceremony site booked, DIY invites bought, dress bought, engagement pics taken, in contract with our photographer.
I feel like I've hit a wall now and that I have to wait till it gets closer before I start with the band, florist, cake, ministers, and etc? Does anyone know what our timeline should be?
We have our ceremony/reception venue down, I got my dress (!!), and I also have the color scheme/feel figured out...those are the only three definites so far.
We possibly have a photographer and caterer...we're going to making those decisions within the next month or so. And everything else (invitations etc.) I'm gathering ideas and just browsing around for possibilities. I'm not stressed out about anything really - we have so much time!
I also love the sound of September 25, 2010 - after we decided that it will be our date, I figured out that it is the exact mid point between my fiance's and my birthday - what a fun coincidence :)
Research Bride: I'm also getting married in RI on 10/25/10! I'll be sure to send good vibes your way that day!
Thanks AlmostMrsG! I'll be thinking of you a month later ;)
Congratulations Everyone
September 25, 2010 is our date too! We (I) originally wanted a date in early October but due to conflicting events: Bay Fest, my parents anniversary and the ever important third Saturday in October, the Alabama-Tennessee football game.
We signed the contract with our photographer today and I am so excited. I have always known that the most important piece of our wedding would be the photography. I want to wear a pretty dress, eat great food and marry my love; I want someone richly talented to capture all of it. We are lucky enough to have the most fashion forward and artistic photographer(s) capturing our special day.
We will finalize the ceremony/reception site next Thursday and are working on interviewing caterers. I want to select and book our vendors now so I can take a break/breather and finish the details next year.
Happy Planning!
tbrooke- I love that you’re having the reception on your parent's land. So personal! We wanted to do the same but we are out in nowhere and 90% of our guests would travel. You’re so lucky!
Aww, thanks charlieken. We are definitely very lucky. We went out a few weekends ago and measured to make sure everything would fit, and it did
, so we've now booked our tent (and the same company will do tables, chairs, lighting, linens, etc...). I'll attach a picture of the tent from our vendor to this post.
I also found my dress about a week ago, so that's ordered now too. That was definitely exciting and unexpected... I was just expecting to look ![]()
Our struggle right now is deciding where we want to have the ceremony. My church in my hometown doesn't have the same minister anymore and is actually switching ministers again at the beginning of June. I guess I am going to have to go home a few weekends and see how I like the new one. Otherwise, I might be trying to talk a friend into getting ordained ![]()
Other than the dress and the tent, I've just been working on getting a bunch of my DIY stuff done. At least we all have enough time to work on whatever projects we decide to take on.
Yay for our wedding date... I'm glad there's this thread going. It's so fun to hear how everyone else is doing in preparing for our big days!
** Edit, ignore the 60x80 tent... ours is the 40x80. This is what happens when I don't pay attention to which file I clicked on and then hit upload too quick. *sigh*
@AlmostMrsG- where are you getting married? How far are you in the process?
Getting married at The Dunes Club in Narragansett. Not very far along, despite having been engaged for over two years already. I've got the venue and ceremony location, which includes the catering and rental stuff, etc., and am working on the photographer-- should probably have that done on Tuesday. Going for my first wedding dress shopping excursion on Friday the 29th. Can't wait!
I'm another September 25, 2010 bride (assuming the venue we choose has that date available)! I'll be getting married either in the Boston area or in northeastern CT.
I'm a Sept 25, 2010 bride too! :)
My FH wanted a fall wedding, and so we were looking at dates. We have a couple of family members getting married this year (and the possibility of a shotgun wedding in the family too), so we decided to check out next year. 25 is our lucky number - the day we met, our first date, our first kiss, his birthday, etc. Sept 25 is a day we don't have any other anniversaries, and it's a great date.
We have the church (where my parents got married), the priest (the Fire Dept Chaplain), and the hall. We are leaning toward a DJ. I don't even know WHERE to start for a photograher. Haven't gone dress shopping yet, afraid I will find something now but then find something else in a magazine.
We just got our contract for our photographer so probably within the next week or two we will have that set. That means we have reception, church and photographer booked. We know what we'd like to do for favors and possibly invites. The next big things to figure out will be my dress (I have ideas but nothing set in stone yet), finding a band or deciding if we should go with a DJ (if we go with a DJ we have a friend who would manage) and check with hotels on booking rooms (that will prob. happen at the end of the summer). We also have decided on DIY save the dates and so there will be a summer long project perfecting them!
Sept 25, 2010 checking in.
We're holding our reception, and as of now our ceremony, at a restaurant in downtown Chicago. I currently live in NYC but am moving to Chicago for law school.
I bought a dress at Saks' sample sale last weekend for an amazingly ridiculous deal, and now it's being cleaned. When I get it back it gets to sit in my closet for a whole year before it's time for alterations.
I plan on attempting to Gocco/emboss all of our stationery, which I'll start on sometime in August after I move.
That's all I've gotten done. I feel like I don't have to do anything else for a while unless I'm missing something.
I am also a Sept 25, 2010 bride! Tbrooke and I have a lot in common... I'm in grad school graduating in May so I am trying to get things done early... also, we are getting married on at my fiance's parents outside under a tent!
I am developing wedding OCD trying to plan all of this!! I have the site, tent, tables, centerpieces, and my dress... and there is so much left to do!
Hi girls! We just nailed down our date, and now I am a 9/25/10 bride as well! I was originally planning on October, but my fiance's dream is to get married in our alma mater's chapel, and it's super competitive to book a date there. There's this whole stressful calling process where you can only book the chapel in the month you want, one year ahead of time. I started to worry that we wouldn't get a date and time that worked for us in October, and then we'd be out of luck, because November in Pittsburgh will be cold! We decided to start by trying for late September, and lo and behold! We scored September 25th, 2010! I am really excited about it because 25 is my lucky number, and our dating anniversary, the one we've been celebrating for SEVEN years, is October 25th! Close enough for me!
So excited to finally be part of this group of ladies!! We just set our date this weekend and I coiuldn't be happier. I feel like I have sooo much planning to start now that we have our date set....eeek I am a little nervous tooo!
My wedding date is also 9/25/10 .I'm so excited! Everything kinda fell in place for us. My FI and I planned all of the major stuff in one week. We have contracted the perfect place for the ceremony (carinwood) , a beautiful reception spot that overlooks center city philadelphia, I got the dress and the wedding planner I always wanted (Gina Sole)!! Both FI and I will be graduating in May and we just purchased our first home in Atlanta. Talk about stress!
I love the fellow Rhode Island brides on this thread! I'm also a 9.25.2010 getting married in Providence and then heading to The Glen Manor House in Portsmouth for the reception!
They say this year just flies by so my fiancee are full steam ahead! We live in Chicago, so it's going to be a lot of commuting back and fourth this year to finalize plans. So far we've got:
Chapel, Venue, Photographer, Attendants, Wedding Dress, & Favors.
Hello girls. This is my first post here. I just had to respond to Carriea.s.b. because I too am getting married in Pittsburgh on 9/25/2010, and my venue is rather close to your chapel :) Maybe we'll see each other. :) We'll be dating for 7 years by then!! You'll have one year on us!
New here, but 9/25/10 bride as well :) Getting married at the Stockade Inn in Schenectady NY.
I'm September 25th too! And it definitely has a ring to it.
So far, I've got the ceremony/reception venues booked, dress purchased, rings purchased, photographer semi-booked (still grappling with that...), and wedding commisioner person found. Oh, and make up/hair booked.
I know I won't be, but I can't help but get the distinct feeling that I'm going to be bored come a month before our wedding...
@Pgh910 - Where in Pittsburgh are you getting married? We're doing our ceremony and reception at The Mansion at Maple Heights on September 11th.
I'm a 9/25/2010 bride too! We're getting married in St. Paul, MN. We have a church, priest, & reception hall. We're pretty close to booking a DJ and a photographer. I've gone dress shopping and I have a date to go look at a DIY invitation store with a friend next week. It seems like it's coming along! =) Congrats to everyone else too!
I just joined the site (though I've been lurking a while) and I'm another Sept. 25 bride. We are planning an intimate wedding with about 40 guests at a country inn in western MA.
So far, I've reserved the ceremony/reception venue, ordered STD/invite samples, and begun dress shopping. I love the DIY ideas I've seen on the site - I'm considering doing my own flowers/centerpieces.
Looking forward to getting to know everyone!
I'm another 9/25/2010 bride. We pretty much ruled out every other weekend in September so we were left with 9/25. I love September! We're getting married in Maryland at the Great Room at Savage Mill.
So far I have the ceremony & reception venues, caterer, photographer, DJ, and officiant. We just had our engagement pictures, which turned out awesome! We are hoping to incorporate them into a Save The Date---maybe a post card?
Congrats to all of the other brides :)
Someone pointed out that our date is "nine - two - five" -- or "9 to 5" which is kind of cute. :)
9-25-2010 bride here as well. We got engaged in March. First thing we did was set a date. We wanted fall, but early fall. We settled on 9-25 because it's the week between the New Mexico State fair and the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (we're in ABQ) and that's just a WONDERFUL time of year here, balloons in the air like graceful jewels, the smell of green chile roasting everywhere, nice crisp fall air and the leaves JUST starting to change, yet still early enough for flowers to still be in bloom. We searched and searched for a venue and his parents and him kept pushing me to UNM Alumni Chapel and as soon as I visited in person, I fell in love. When we talked to the staff about reserving in Sept. she got a worried look and explained that the Jewish student union has reserved all but 2 days of Sept for the next 10 years... After checking the calendar, turns out 9-25-2010 was one of those two days... Just seemed too much like fate so we booked and signed the contract.
We also have the reception venue booked, which includes 9 rooms for our out of town guests (95% of our guest list) and booked another block of rooms at a discount at a nearby hotel. The reception site includes an awesome florist, so that's booked, and an amazing baker for the cake... another check done. His aunt is going to cater since she owns a restaurant. My brother in law and step-sister are booked for photography (both are pros).
We have not finalized which flowers will be used, nor any details about the cake. I've not yet started on the DIY projects in mind (some decorations, centerpieces, invitations). I need to settle in on a dress and shoes and all the other accessories that tend to pop up, but I'm really comfortable with where we are on the timeline.
stephk23 when in March did you get engaged? We got engaged on (Friday) March 13. :)
@steph and windycity -- we got engaged in march too! March 7 was our engagement date :)
