My dress is arriving mid-June and I'll probably go the beginning of July.  I'm allowing 6-8 weeks for alterations.

Same. I already have my dress, so I'm spending my time until July altering myself (hardy har har) to better fit the dress.

I'm not a September bride, but my alterations lady needs about 7-8 weeks.  She is independant though, if you are going thru a bridal shop, it might take longer!

Yay Sept. 18! I only need to have mine hemmed and since it lives at my mom's I'm going in April when I am next at her house. I didn'T imagine it would take the seamstress more than a week (my other alternative was to go the week before hte wedding) thanks for sharing wait times.

My dress has been in since Dec.  I'm so impatient to wear it for real!  I don't need much alteration, so i'm not getting them done until mid-august.  (By not much done, I mean they pretty much only have to sew in bra cups ... I got a hollow-to-hem custom done to avoid heavy alterations).

Yay September 18! I'm done! :) It took about a month for her to get all the alterations done. I would like to try and lose some weight before the wedding, but honestly, I don't think i'll lose that much to make a difference! Plus my dress is corset back, so I can always tighten it up!! :)

I actually had NO CLUE when I'm supposed to do this- given your responses, I'd say I'm supposed to do it around July. Thanks, bees! :)

My dress isn't here yet. They say it should arrive in April or May so I think I will start in on fittings in July. I am hoping they have to take it in by then...if only I could stop eating all together

My dress hasn't come in yet, although I am dying for it to!  I am only having the length altered, so hopefully I can knock that out when I go pick my dress up.

My dress has been in since December.  They told me at the shop that fittings would be best to start in July.  I'm only doing the hem and bustle first ... saving the bodice for the last minute since I've been losing weight,

My dress has been in since September (yep, I tried on my actual dress when I was more than 1 year out). I'm going to call my salon in May to see when they want me to come in. I'm hoping it will need to be taken in Smile

My dress is in (yay!) and i'm going this weekend with some of my bridesmaids to find them dresses. I'm going to try on my dress but probably not have any alterations done until June/July. I want to make sure I am looking my best!

We share the same wedding date, melv0802! Yay! My dress is due to come in mid-June, so I'm planning on getting fitted the end of June so that gives my seamstress a month to bustle my dress and have it ready for my bridal pix at the beginning of August.

I ended up buying the sample of my dress since they weren't going to be carrying at the bridal shop anymore at 50% off!  Even though I already have it, I'm starting alterations in July so I have a few months to really get in shape!

I am planning on having my dress fitted on August 7th.  There are minor alterations that the dress needs.

My dress is supposed to come in at the end of May.  I'll come in and verify that it is the dress and then fittings don't start till August.  There'll be 2 in August and one in Sept -- two weeks before the wedding.  I'm told that last one is really important because bridal stress can = weight loss or gain in a lot of women.

My dress was shipped on April 10 from Justin Alexander, and should be here any day (hopefully). I suppose it has to through customs and so on...not sure! Anyhow, I feel like it is taking FOREVER!! So, my first fitting will be as soon as it comes in. =)

I had my first fitting (next one will be 5 days before the wedding - eek!) two weeks ago. The seamstress is pretty busy but should have it done in May/June. She was really great to work with if anyone is interested, she's located in Seekonk, MA and works out of a "home office" but spent over 20 years at a local bridal salon. Thus far, I have been pleased with her patience and price but she was not easy to find so PM me if anyone wants her info.
