I am a August bride, but my reception is in September. There are quite a few ideas I had that I was totally revved up about, and now I just could care less. It has taken its toll on me, and I am realizing this day is not about the "details" it is this board and every other wedding board seeping into our brains telling us we MUST have this or that.
I have my basic centerpieces, have to get a few more candles and need to fix up my card box, sending away for business cards for guests to upload pictures to shutterly and then I am done! Totally. I had a ton of cutsie ideas, but really I am exhausted!
I don't know how it's done! How do you make your own photobooth? Sounds complicated!
I honestly am getting more excited that I am going to be married than any of the details. It started out with details and now, well I can't wait to say I DO! I am getting giddy...............................
I couldn't agree more! At first I was so excited about the details of the wedding, and now I'm just excited to be married!!
I got the DIY photobooth idea from this website: http://apracticalwedding.com/2011/01/how-to-the-wedding-photo-booth/
It seems pretty simple: rent a camera and a remote, and let the guests have fun. But the more I thought about it I worried where I could put it without it being knocked over...I also wanted to have some kind of back drop, but our venue won't allow us to hang anything on the walls.
So I'm pretty much giving up on the idea. Ha.
Basically with all my DIY decoration - we're gonna stick to hanging lanterns (because we've already got those) and centerpieces because they're kinda necessary. Everything else is essentially going to be scrapped because it's waaayyyy to overwhelming to think about haha.
i actually dont have a to do list other than get the marriage license. we had to finish everything up this week because starting tomorrow we are packing to move into our new house 2 weeks before the wedding. i have to make sure all the wedding stuff is taken to a friends so it dosent get lost. (that would make one of my wedding nightmares actually come true!!)
@cr6zy: So jealous! I am trying to so hard to get everything done as soon as possible. I am just working through my to-do list one thing at a time.
Im not taking things off, We have pretty much finished all our tasks. Im starting to feel like I should be doing something? We just need to order the name tags for the tables, but that needs all the RSVPs first.
This week I have got a bunch accomplished and also dropped some ideas off my list.
They were good ideas, but I'd rather enjoy some of the rest of the summer than make things that most people won't notice anyway!
I threw out doing a candy buffet, painting LOVE letters for the cake table, and menu cards for the tables. NO TIME!!!
Haha I keep ADDING THINGS! Arrrrggg!!
Still trying to decide whether a veil, a simple broach hairpiece, or a flower hairpiece.
But I did majorly simplify a few things. I decided to do broach corsages for the mothers/grandmothers and ordered those on eBay (that means i didn't have to make them myself to match the other silk flowers). Then I bought the super easy stuff from Joann's to make my garder. I'm not going to make another bouquet to toss, I'm just gonna use a bridesmaid's. Stuff like that -- I've realized it's easier to simplify!
Sooo many things that I just had to let go of. Between my DIY wedding and my crazy hours at my job...I have decided I just have to say NO if it isn't absolutely necessary. (but its still making me crazy lol)
I scrapped a couple of smalls projects but most of my things are getting done in time - yeah!

I am the only one, or are other September brides giving up on wedding ideas they once had? For example, I was going to do a DIY photobooth, but as the date got closer the photobooth went further down my to-do list until it was finally knocked off completely.
Are there any other September brides going through the same thing?!
