Commenting to follow. I haven’t designed or ordered invitations yet so I’m guessing ours won’t go out until mid July at this point.

xxallurebridexx:  I’m curious why your RSVP date is so early? Our wedding is the week before yours and our numbers aren’t due to the caterer until 2 weeks out…when are yours due?

Our wedding date is Sep 27th. We are planning to send out by last week of July. We are thinking RSVP date of a month out, so like August 25th or so. I have read lots and many people say not to wait until when the caterer or other counts are due. If you have to call people, you’ll want to leave yourself lots of time to do that. Also, people really don’t need much more time than that. If they haven’t answered by then, odds are that they forgot!

ShannonJoyJoy:  oh yeah I definitely was not suggesting the OP or anyone else have their RSVP deadline be right up against the caterer deadline, but having it 6 weeks before the wedding seems extremely early.

HannahGrace:  A lot of our guests are going away during the summer or coming in from other states. We are meeting with our venue one month before the wedding. I also left room for people who will RSVP late.

xxallurebridexx: That makes sense! i did have the thought re summer and people being busy, but we sent save the dates so I’m hopeful that we will get moderately timely replies. I figured a two week buffer for RSVP before our caterer deadline would work…hopefully I don’t end up regretting it.

When I was helping my friends plan their wedding for last September, they didn’t send out invities until mid-July and RSVP was due beginning of Sept since their wedding was end of September.

I have 2 more friends getting married this September. One has already mailed out their invites and I actually received mine June 6 and the rsvp date is Aug 15. No clue why but I would never advised anyone to send it out this early. Other friend will probably not send out her invites for at least another week or 2 and will have RSVP date by beginning of Sept also.

Our wedding is 5th September, and we’re hoping to have invites sent out mid-late July.

RSVP date will be 8th of August.

All of our guests have received Save the Dates and known our date since we set it over a year ago. We’re also in close contact with most of them, and have discussed the wedding, and having to take time off since it’s a Friday wedding and a lot of guests will be coming from overseas. So the invites are mainly just a formality for us!

MrsBP:  Mine is Sept. 6th and sent out invites June 10th. Lots of people from out of town, so we wanted to get them out around the 3 month mark. RSVP date of August 6th. One month before the wedding. But we also don’t have any “B list” guests.

No matter when your wedding is the most polite dates are invites sent out 6-8 weeks before the event, with the RSVP date a week or so before the event.

If you need weeks (muliple) to track people down, you are doing it wrong, or inviting the most rude boors in the world.

September 27th wedding.  We are sending out our invites within the next couple of weeks and our RSVP date is August 30th.  I know this is earlier than normal for sending out invites, but we made the mistake of not including a wedding website on the STD’s for a guestlist of mostly out-of-town guests.  We figured that earlier would be better since the invites have the website and hotel information.
