We aren't taking a honeymoon until the next spring/summer, but I really want to go to Vegas or to the Bahamas.. We are paying for more than half of the wedding so $ wise its better for us to wait.
We were worried about hurricane season in the Caribbean, so we went to Puerto Vallarta (stayed at the Dreams) through CheapCaribbean.com, and it was AMAZING. Super cheap too! We never felt unsafe, and it was absolutely great, so much so that we're returning for our anniversary!
@7SEVENJ9: How were the beaches? Snorkeling?
We're stuck between the Caribbean and Mexico. The Caribbean has everyting I want BUT it's hurricane season and more expensive. Mexico is more affordable and great weather, but I've heard the beaches are rocky. The beach/snorkeling are on the top of our list.
We went a little out of the box, lol...we went to Africa, which was amaaaazing.
We're going to Negril, Jamaica from Sept. 26-Oct. 1
We have travel insurance for the hurricanes and we're hoping for the best!
@R.Elliott: We want to go to Jamaica for our honeymoon in early November which is still hurricane season. We talked to a couple travel agents and they said usually the worst that happens during that time is a few brief afternoon showers and it shouldnt effect the trip too much but to get insurance just in case. Im sure you guys will have a great time :)
were going to the riviera maya i heard it it is hurrican season and that i can get really bad but i also heard that it might rain for like 5 minutes a day and tehn be beautiful!
well see! were hoping for sunshine!
Yayy! Thank you girls so much!! :) I hope your Honeymoons or anniversaries are FANSTASTIC!
We aren't taking a honeymoon immediately since the FT is a teacher and will still be in school. However, over the summer I'm hinting that I would like to go to Africa or Asia.
We just booked our honeymoon for ten days in French Polynesia. I'm so excited and I think my FI is more excited about the trip than he is about the wedding!
We're going to a small resort near Todos Santos, Mexico - on the Baja California peninsula.
We're just going to a local nice hotel (I live in a resort town anyways) for a few nights, then hopefully to Italy for our 1 year. :)
If we get a chance we want to go stay in a tree house for a weekend after we get married.
We're going to the Riviera Maya. I'm really excited! I've never been to Mexico!!!!
@KateinNYC: Ooo I went there a few years ago with the fam and it was amazing! Are you staying in Ixtapa?
FI just booked our plane tickets for Thailand in September! Now begins the fun of planning the trip!
We went to Hawaii (stayed on Kauai the whole time), which was perfect and wonderful and all those glorious Hawaii honeymoon cliches wrapped into one... plus, September is a great time of year to be there.
Since we will be travelling to the next province for our wedding (about 15 hour drive) and I'll be using all my vacation time for that, we aren't going on a honeymoon until Feb/March.
We are going to Brazil. We have a good friend there, so we are going to stay with him and his family.
@socalmeli: Good to hear! No, we're staying in Zihuatanejo itself, at a hotel called Amuleto. It's very small, only 6 rooms, but looks amazing.
We are going to Aruba for a week, then to Miami for a couple of days, then on a 7 day Caribbean Cruise to Cozumel, Belize, Honduras and Grand Cayman. Can't wait :)
We are doing a very low-key cabin rental honeymoon. We both love the outdoors and fishing and we are building a house so money..... not so much ha!

We are going to Secrets Maroma Beach, but are waiting until the end of October
@BrookeClouser: We're renting a cabin in Tennessee provided I can get the time off. I just got a new job, but my manager said I could be pretty flexible with my hours, so it's looking good :).
FI said he wants one of the cabins that has a heart-shaped jacuzzi, lol. I thought he would think it was cheesy, but apparently he thinks it's amazing :).
We're going to Secrets Maroma in Riviera Maya... It is hurricane season, but like some people said, it may rain for only a couple minutes a day. Even if it does rain, there will be plenty of drinks, good food, and a hot tub on our balcony. :)
We're going to St Kitts in the Carribbean, but are waiting until the week after Thanksgiving. We were worried about the hurricanes, too, so we decided to wait until later on and also give us time to get situated after the wedding.
We are going to French Polynesia and NZ! Not the optimal weather for NZ but really, when would we ever go again?

Hey Girls! We are having a September wedding and we have our hearts set on the D.R. My fiance says we need to wait until November to go there because of the storms. Just curious to see what peoples experiences have been ? Thank you :)!
