Ladies, FI and I put off booking our honeymoon! Now I'm stressing, we would ideally like to go to Secrets Maroma, but I am having a difficult finding decent flights AND to top it off FMIL is nagging about hurricaines.

Is anyone else traveling to Mexico in September worried about the hurricaines?

We're going to St. Thomas on the 11th. I'm slightly worried about hurricanes and the fact of flying on 9/11 10 year anniversary but it is what it is and we are going to do it. We won't let anything stop us =). (Lets hope not! )

We are actually going to Secrets Maroma on the 12th - not leaving on the 11th because we wanted to day to relax after the wedding and because of the date, sadly..

I have tried not to think about hurricanes much since there's so much going on with the wedding.. But we'll be crossing our fingers that weekend I'm sure. Honestly though, if we were going somewhere in the middle of the caribbean, and not Mexico, I'd probably be more worried. But we'll see what happens.

We are going to Playa Del Carmen on September 18th. I'm a little worried about hurricanes, but at this point, there isn't really anything we can do about it.

We decided to delay our 'real' honeymoon until after hurricane season. Instead, we booked a house in the Outer Banks for a week, which we will go down to September 10th. Now, I'm more paranoid the house is going to have issues and our vacation be cancelled due to Irene.

The best part - we get to bring our dogs!

I'm hoping to take a trip somewhere else next year sometime, maybe one of the islands or a cruise.

@RR: Thanks :) - It's good to hear something positive. I've heard a lot of "Are you really just going to the beach for your honeymoon?" as well as "You should go away right after your wedding, not a week later".

I'm going to enjoy my 4 day work week after the wedding, and my week long beach trip with my furbabies, probably a lot more than I would a vacation in the islands right now.

Plus, in a few months, my parents might be more willing to come stay with the dogs when we go away - they are both young (14mths & almost 2 years) and destructive still. No one wants to dogsit them!

@LeahP: We are going to Playa Del Carmen as well... on the 25th... so praying and claiming GORGEOUS weather for both weekends!!! ;-) What resort are you staying?

We're going to St. Lucia on the 18th. Hopefully it's far enough south that we won't have any bad weather. But even if it rains every day, I'll still be away from it all with my new husband

We're heading to Mexico in 11 days! I haven't really given much thoughts to hurricanes because of this: I will be with my HUSBAND, I will be in a ballin' resort, said ballin' resort is all-inclusive, I won't be wedding planning, I can take endless naps and snuggle with my Mr. Basically, I think I can have a pretty amazing vacay even if I have to be sequestered in our hotel! :) Nonetheless, I should probably say a prayer for perfect Mexican weather in the month of September!

Enjoy the beach . . . or worse case scenario, enjoy being stuck in a room with your new husband while the rain and wind beat down the beach!

@smores: I AGREE 100% !!! can't wait to snuggle up with my honey! We are going to an all-inclusive resort as well and I can't wait to relax.. Amen to no more wedding planning.. but getting starting on our beautiful marriage!!

Last September 1st my best friend and I went to Riviera Maya and stayed at an all inclusive resort until September 11th (we flew home on 09/11 without a problem) and had a blast. The weather was sooo nice and we had such a good time. No worries, book your trip and have fun! :)
