I had always planned to go to Cancun Mexico to the Omni Hotel and Resorts for me and my SO’s honeymoon. When we decided that we do want our wedding to be during the fall season, preferably in September, we later found out that Sembtember is the peak for hurricane season. Big downer… My SO has never been to the beach and I thought Cancun would not only be a wonderful honeymoon destination but it would also be a beautiful first time beach experience for him but i dont want him to experience rain and hurricane weather…
Has anyone risked it and went to the beach for their Septmeber honeymoon?
How did it turn out?

@cmoest: You can’t really worry too much about that. I have been to the Bahamas and Jamaica during hurrican season and we would get a few showers in the late afternoon and then it cleared up.
Its the caribean, its bound to rain, but not all day.
If you want PERFECT weather, look into Aruba, their average rainfall is less than 12 %

We went to Mexico for a week in September and the weather was perfect! I was told October is hurricane season by my travel agent.

Yeah, just get travel insurance.

I’d get some trip insurance and go for it. We’re getting married in September and going to Aruba in March. That month fit the best with our work schedules so we just went for it, but after the trip was booked I read that Aruba was below the hurricane belt so we could have went any time of year if we wanted.

We went to Isla Mujeres for our September honeymoon last year (island right off the coast of Cancun, about a 30 minute ferry ride away). The weather was *perfect.* I was worried too and bought travel insurance for peace of mind but didn’t end up needing it! Here are some pics:
In the first and last photo you can see Cancun across the water! So as you can see there is hope for good weather 🙂
