So I'm getting married on Sept. 13, and am looking for a honeymoon from the 14-26.  As the entire Caribbean will be in the midst of hurricane season, and the Maldives is having monsoon season, and my fiance is anti-Hawaii, any ideas for an exotic place for us to go?! We've been looking at the Greek Isles, and Tahiti/Bora Bora, and are thinking maybe Thailand... any other thoughts or suggestions? We're looking for somewhere we'll never go again...

New Zealand. I have no idea what the weather is like there at that time of year and don't know what the beaches are like, but I want to go, so - there you have it. :)

We went to Italy and it was gorgeous.  Granted, it isn't exotic, persay, but considering where it is, I would assume Greece, Portugal, etc, they would all be just as nice.

I am going to excellence riviera cancun in september, the beginning part of it. I wasn't too thrilled about Cancun for my hhoneymoon, but it's a 5 start hotel with incredible spa's, pools and resturants and it's all inclusive. And we're staying 10 days!

    Thailand is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My FH and I went last May, during hurricane season, and had perfect weather and super low rates for 5 star hotels!

One of my best friends got married this past Sept. 22, and left for Thailand the next day. They had wonderful weather and an amazing time.

I would suggest a couple days in Bangkok, then head off to the amazing islands or treks, depending on your mood.

We stayed at a place called La Racha, on La Racha  Island (off phuket) it was super gorgeous, romantic and one of the most beautiful places I have ever seenn.

Sept Bride:  I am getting married Sept 6th and we have been looking into some of the beach resorts in Vietnam.  There seems to be some amazing hidden treasures there.  I'm not sure of your budget, but check out six-senses.com for some amazing resorts.  If we had the budget, that is where we would go.

Also Rebecca - my FH and I spent 20 days in Peru.  We actually got engaged while we were there.  Let me know if you'd like any info.  It is an amazing country: friendly, beuatiful and relatively inexpensive.

I'm getting married 9/20 and we're going to Aruba.  We had friends that got married last year around the same time and had awesome weather on their honeymoon in Aruba.  Aruba is below the hurricane belt and has very little chance for one - so cross your fingers!!  We would have loved to go somewhere more exotic or possibly to Europe, namely Italy, but with all of the wedding expenses - it was way out of our budget.  So hopefully we found a happy medium.  Enjoy where ever you end up picking!

We got married on Sept 8th and went Curacao (between Aruba and Bonaire).  It's as far south as you can go and not be in South America and they haven't had a hurricane there in over 40 years.  I'd say it's pretty freakin' safe.  We had an amazing time -- check out the Avila Beach Hotel -- www.avilahotel.com.

Sounds like you've been lots of places already.  I've always wanted to go to New Zeland, Italy and Mr. Onion is dying to go to Japan.

Go tot he website www.professionaltravelguide.com, there you can enter your destination (where ever you want to find info about) and they will give you updated weather and tell you when you should travel to the certian locations.  I found this extremely helpful.

I'm not sure why your fiance is anti-Hawaii, but if anyone was anti-Hawaii they'd be anti-Hawaii against the Honolulu area and Waikiki Beach, which is definitely over-touristy. I got married this past September 22nd, and honeymooned on the island of Kauai from the 25th-3rd. I think it's really important to really research any stereotypes before ruling a whole state out. The islands of Kauai and also the Big Island (Hawaii) have a lot to offer - on Kauai, we definitely did a lot of things that were "off the beaten path". The Big Island is famous for its black sand beaches and for Volcanoes National Park - it was featured on the Travel Channel on Places to See Before You Die. Hawaii is way too beautiful to label a stereotype on. With that said, September is a really good month to travel, because for the most part its a mild month around the world. So, I think you should be good to go almost anywhere you go.

This is too funny! I am getting married on 9/12/09 and my fiancé and I have the EXACT same question.  We are worried about hurricane season, we do not want to go to HI but we do want something “exotic”.  I never thought about Thailand, so thanks for that suggestion.  I read on another website that September is a good time to go to Croatia….anyone have any thoughts?

    Thanks much!

Alibride: We are getting married Sept. 6 also. It's coming up fast!!

We are taking a chance and going to Cozumel from Sept. 8-12. I've talked to a few friends who have gone down that area during that time and they've been fine. I think it's just hit and miss anyway. I'm just going to make sure we get trip insurance in case of hurricane issues.

    Hello, everyone!

We're on the West Coast and getting married 9/26/09. We're planning to go to New York City. Might be warm, but after the Northwest summers(unpredictable) we're really looking forward to it!

As to Hurricane season...I heard from a travel agent that it's the Caribbean side of Mexicao that needs to be cautious; not the Pacific-side; but I've never been so what do I know?
