@lizzyh113:  Greece is gorgeous in September!  Still *really* warm and no hurricanes to worry about like in the Caribbean.

We’re thinking Puerto Rico, but we’re worried about hurricanes.

My fiance and I were offered miles by my aunt to fly to anywhere in the Carribean or Hawaii.  We are the all-inclusive, total relaxation type, and since Hawaii has virtually zero all-inclusives, we are going the Carribean route.  We booked tickets to Mexico this week and were told that if weather is a factor, that you can reschedule free of charge.  Also, I think you can buy travel insurance in case you are worried about a hurricane or something of that nature.  We are on the lookout for a great deal on a luxury all-inclusive in the Riviera Maya area, and are keeping our fingers crossed that when September rolls around, it’ll be hurricane free!

We decided to go with Hawaii-we’re leaving Sept. 27th (day after the wedding).  Just wanted something different and we’ve both been to the Caribbean.  We considered Europe but it’s just so expensive!

We went to Cozumel, Mexico last september (8-12) and had a wonderful time. I would definitely get trip insurance though just in case. A hurricane came through heading to texas but that one wasn’t close enough to cause any alarm or to cancel our trip. Our stay at the Aura Wyndham was amazing! We would definitely go back someday. It was an all inclusive and they had wonderful food and drinks galore. Our room was beautiful and the service was great.

Hi Again,

So he tells me yesterday he would rather Hawaii over Greece, which is fine by me.  Kara how did you choose Hawaii.

We’re going to Alaska! on a cruise! We’re still trying to work out the details but probably a  8 day/7 nt cruise….it will be beautiful there right before the winter sets in, but cold enough to truly snuggle in the night time! but who needs an excuse during a honeymoon?

We had the same issue. I really didn’t want to chance having even a bit of weather (rain or clouds or anything) on our honeymoon which left South America or Hawaii. My fiance was really into going to Hawaii, so that was our option. My fiance is also from Luxembourg, so Hawaii made total sense to not worry about ANY immigration issues.

I think we’ll be going to Kauai and doing the small cottage thing as we are really not the big resort type.

I have been to  Greece though… its great!

We’re going to Australia. I want to go to New Zealand, too, but here its quite expensive there! Maybe we will go to Singapore instead.

I’m cashing in all my miles to fly economy there (15 hour flights!) and his brother is letting us use his timeshare for lodging.

If you’re planning on the Caribbean, you should REALLY look into hurricane insurance. Check with a travel agent- it doesn’t cost too much, and allows you to reschedule due to bad weather. Its definitely worth it!

We did our September honeymoon in Greece last year and it was fantastic! We spent a week at Starwood hotels (3 days at the Westin Astir Palace Beach Resort, 3 days at the Hotel Grand Bretagne in Athens) and spent the next week on a Greek isles sailing ship cruise on the Star Clipper. The hotels and cruise were absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend them! Also, if you get the Starwood Rewards credit card you can earn points to pay for Starwood Hotel nights, which is what we did, so we got to spend a week in 4- and 5-star hotels for free!

I really want to go scuba diving on our honeymoon but am also nervous about hurricanes. For those who did/ are going to do Hawaii what places to you recommend checking out for lodging?

well this is gonna sound ODD but we are taking a partial family vacation with my kids to Disneyland.  We will go to a local hotel the night of the wedding.  Monday & Tuesday will be normal schedule for everyone, then Wed-Fri we will be at Disneyland as a family.  Friday the kids go to their Dad’s house and FH and I will go spend the weekend at the beach.
