Fiancee and I are recently engaged, and I’m having a hard time deciding on September or October… he doesn’t seem to mind either way.
October is less chance of rain in my area, but its colder and can be windy, however, the pictures would be beautiful with the leaves turning. September would probably be a perfect temperature, but more chance of rain than Oct.
For colours, I like the traditional fall colours, so if I chose October, I’d probably go with golds and bronzes, orange, etc. For September, it would probably be maroons, blues, purples, etc.
It’s such a tough choice, I’m adding a poll so feel free to vote for what you would prefer 🙂

Are you wanting to have your wedding inside or outside? If you have it inside, you can still have the wedding in October, get beautiful pictures outside, but still me cozy and warm inside!

i personally think that the colors for october are more beautiful and you also wouldn’t have to worry about rain as much

Have you checked with any vendors yet? I’ve heard that now the most popular wedding months are May and October, so that may help with your decision. It may be harder to secure a place you love if you pick October.

I vote October because I am an October 2011 bride. The fall theme is SOO much fun.

It’s an indoor wedding so just the photos would be outside… I was originally thinking for September, but my friends are swaying me towards October, and now it’s got me thinking…
I already checked with a few venues and the ones I like have either date available… the only date that works for us for October is the 15th. September could be 10th, 17th or 24th.

Sept is the most popular month for weddings so you might want to speak with the venues to see what is availble and what rate difference is.

I voted September just because that’s when I got married. Really, though, you can’t go wrong with either month, they’re both lovely and I love fall weddings. Why don’t you check with your venue to see what dates they have available? I think that will make it easier for you to set a date.

I voted October because there seemed to be more excitement from you about it. Maybe I’m just reading you wrong though ;).

I live in Ottawa, but am getting married in London (two hours south of TO). I looked into fall folliage reports, because while it was orange/red/yellow in Ottawa in September, London is green until mid-October.

I am assuming you live in Ottawa Canada. I think more guests would come to your wedding in September. Isn’t your Thanksgiving in October?

I was going to pick October until I saw how north you are! So I went with September. Rain is good luck too 🙂

If we chose October 15th, its the weekend after thanksgiving. October in Toronto is weird, it can be so cold, or really warm, its totally unpredictable… September is more chance of warm weather, but not too hot. I guess I will see if the church availability matches the venue and that will help decide too.
Thanks bees 🙂

I know October is beautiful but you just don’t know how warm or cold it will be.
I originally wanted my wedding to be on Sept 17 or the 24th but the venue was booked so 9/10/11 it was. (good thing is everyone remembers the date) It doesn’t get dark out early as it would in October, so that was a plus for me.
I asked my florist about what colors I should do because 9/10 is still summer time and she said “Its your wedding day, it doesn’t matter what the season is, go with what you want”
I picked a cranberry colored dress for BMs and I’m going with fall colors because that is what I want!!!

As an October 2011 I gave my biased opinion….lol
