I’ll play!

Wedding Date: September 20, 2013

Engagement Length:  Engaged late June 2012, so, about 15 months

Colors: Eggplant, bright green and ivory – @AmyFarrahFowler, we’re practically color twins!

Theme: Also not really a theme, but if I had to describe the overall look – simple but elegant garden-y wedding

Wedding Party(#s): MOH, Best Man, and flower girl – I’m very happy we’re keeping the bridal party small

Ceremony (where): historic building built in early 1900s on a working farm:

Reception (where): same as ceremony

Dress Style: Pronovias Alma (it’s from the Spring 2011 line)

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro hair and pro airbrush makeup

Honeymoon Location: Iceland, and I am PSYCHED! I’ve always wanted to go there, and FI is so into the idea. We’re doing a 10 day trip that includes driving around the ring road, all the way around the island to the more remote areas.

Flowers: Ivory and green. My florist recommended David Austin roses, since I like the look of lush peonies but they won’t be in season.

(no purple, even though that’s a wedding color – eggplant will be in my shoes, the bridesmaids dresses, and probably table linens)

First Dance Song: REM, “Be Mine.” FI used to play this for me on his acoustic guitar when we first started dating, and the lyrics are so, so perfect.

Centerpieces: Mason jars with green and baby’s breath, twine – here’s an inspiration pic, but we won’t have little birdhouses like this pic:

Food/Menu: Cocktail hour: stationary cheese and veggie table, 3 hot passed hors. We get a signature cocktail with our catering contract, so we’re doing a “white Cosmo” – St. Germaine Elderflower liquor, vodka, white cranberry juice. I love St. Germaine. Dinner: Seated salad and bread, and then stations – I used to work for a catering company and did a ton of weddings – stations were always my favorite!

Cake Flavor: definitely at least one tier of chocolate, and I prefer messier-looking and delciious buttercream frosting – no fancy/intricate fondant for us

Favors: probably caramel popcorn in little cellophane baggies with customized sticker

DJ/Band/Ipod: iPod. We are having a blast thinking of songs to add throughout our engagement! My two brothers are taking on the DJ/iPod manager and emcee roles.

Bachelorette (when/what): something in DC (where I live). My MOH is in CA, but has said she wants to come out for a bachelorette. Really excited she wants to make the trip.

Wedding Date: September 21, 2013

Engagement Length: 13 months

Colors: Girls are wearing jade, the flowers will probably feature blue and purple and a peacock feather.

Theme: unsure yet. definitely more casual than formal.

Wedding Party(#s):  4 bridesmaids, 5 groomsmen

Ceremony (where): The Atrium

Reception (where): The Atrium

Dress Style: Oleg Cassini – Strapless sweetheart beaded lace trumpet dress with shirred tulle bodice. It has a sweep train.

Hair/Makeup (Pro/DYI): Pro for both. My hair is straight, I’ll make it wavy and pull it to the side half up/half down. As for makeup, I want to highlight my eyes (which are brown) with gold/brown eye shadow and jade eyeliner (to match the colors in the wedding).

Honeymoon Location: We’re considering Hawaii, but haven’t booked anything yet.

Flowers: I’m thinking hydrangeas and/or roses. I definitely want color – so blues/greens/purples.

First Dance Song: Undecided yet, we’re probably going to go with a classic rock genre love song.

Centerpieces: The place has center pieces that are tall candleabras with big ivory/white silk flowers. I’m 80% sure we’re just going to use those unless we have money left over. Then I might do 6” square vases with 1 peacock feather and bright purple and blue hydrangeas.

Food/Menu: A full cocktail hour with passed hors d ouerves, carving stations, pasta station, plus hot/cold options, then 3 course dinner: salad/appetizer/entree. For dessert wedding cake and they will get cookies on the table.
