I bought the Mori Lee 1953. When I tried it on I instantly fell in love it with, but now I’m starting to have serious regret. I’m starting to HATE the beaded taffeta waist. I’m not sure if a seamstress would be able to remove the beading without leaving tiny holes or if it would look okay if its able to be removed. I’m also starting to feel this dress does nothing for my figure as it doesn’t really show off my tiny waist. I can’t stop thinking that I made a mistake and rushed into it. I just don’t know what to do!

I think the dress is unique and stunning.
I think you could explain your dislikes to an alterations person and see what they have to say, but you bought it because you liked it…right?

@ashleydevitt: Can you fold over the top and the bottom of the sash just a bit to see what it would look like if it were narrower? Just a thought…. For what it’s worth I think the dress is stunning as is – but you have to love it….

I think the dress definitely shows your lovely waist! Could you have the entire taffeta sash removed and put another one there in its place that you prefer?

I think your dress looks gorgeous on you! I agree with the pps who suggested making the sash a bit thinner, it might help with emphasising your waist.
If you think the beading looks a little too out there, it can’t hurt to ask your seamstress right? See what she thinks first.

OMG I love it!! I’m super picky about dresses and usually don’t like any bling, but this is beautiful! I do agree that it may look better with a thinner sash, but that should be doable.

I think your dress is absolutely stunning.
What I would recommend is that you allow the dress alone to be the statement and forgo the necklace and beaded-edged veil (which I think compete with the details of your gorgeous gown) in favor of beautiful earrings and bracelet alone and a plain-edged veil.

i think the dress is gorgeous and unique and it compliments your figure! i agree that the belt doesn’t work all that well, however. any idea if the dress embelishment continues underneath the sash?
if so, i’m sure it can be removed and you can wear the dress without it.
if not, i think it would look REALLY nice if a seamstress removed what she could of the tafetta and extra beading and you covered it in a big, beautful silky sash with a bow in the back!
sort of like this: http://www.pinterest.com/pin/528187862517096348/

I love your dress and I think it DOES show off your waist.
But you could either:
1) Find a different sash perhaps in a different color, put it over the dress and tie in the back as tight as you can to make your waist seems smaller and give your dress some ‘oumph’
2) You have almost two years until your wedding…sell it and buy another ASAP!

@ashleydevitt: I think your dress is stunning. But you aren’t standing with a posture that would show that you are confident in it.

I had my own spout of dress regret. It was the hardest thing to go through. But I followed my gut and found myself a new dress. I could not be more happy. so if it makes you feel better, can be dress regret success stories.

@ashleydevitt: I think you look beautiful and tiny! But if you don’t like it speak to a seamstress and see what can be done to make it the dress you prefer, I am sure they can help you. Sometimes we second guess ourselves too often, spend some time away from the dress to clear your head.

That dress is a stunner. Don’t give it up, remove/alter the sash to your liking….you have the time to have it worked on…it’ll be perfection!

REALLY? omg I think it’s amazing! 🙂 Talk to alterations though if it is bugging you that much.

The dress is beautiful, and looks beautiful on you. However, I’m with you that the sash doesn’t do much for it – I would look into getting it removed, hopefully the beading continues underneath it.
