So I got my serving set back from engraving today… when both handles are pointed the same way so the designs match up one of the engravings is upsidedown and the other is right side up… is this normal? I thought it would both be the same way… I am dissapointed but I just want to know, is that normal?? When turned opposite directions you can read them both but I feel like that is so backwards… here’s a pic. What do you think.

My first marriage (circa 1980) we only had the Cake Knife itself engraved… as that seemed to be the norm back then… don’t recall seeing the Server part engraved… or I probably would have had it done.
I did a GOOGLE for you – Engraved Cake Serving Set
And noticed that the majority of Servers when Engraved would be done so in such a way as the handles would be aligned when displayed with the text right side up
BUT… there were also several shown where the sets would look like yours when displayed.
Lol… I’m guessing that the “logic” here at work is that when you actually use these tools, if you are right handed, you’d have the knife in your right hand, and the server in the left… and so the engraving would then be right side up and facing you / readable.
Hope this helps,

@This Time Round: hmmm. That’s good to know. I guess I had just envisioned them reading the same direction… thank you for your response!
