Doh I just learned yesterday I have right foot tendonitis...my foot has been so sore for the past week and I could barely walk so went in for an x-ray to rule out a break.  The weird thing is there was no onset of injury.  My dr. thinks it is from wearing flip flops too much.  Sheesh!

There goes getting super buff the last month before my wedding!

oh no!  Definitely keep doing upper body workouts that dont require standing...think assisted pullups, seated rows, seated inverse fly, pushups with your legs on a large yoga ball, etc.  you can definitely do it!!

From wearing flipflops too much?  Weird.  I was a DM for Abercrombie for 2 years, wore flops EVERY SINGLE DAY (I still do, when Im not at work!) and I used to have sore arches, but nothing like that.  Sorry love Embarassed  Get that healed up in the next month!!

    First, congrats on your wedding!!

Haha, thanks for the tips!  I still plan to lift and bike.  I was really upset yesterday, thinking I would still be in a lot of pain at the wedding.  I am just going to be super careful the next month and hopefully will be fine!

She also said it could be from wearing high heels.  I sort of discount that b/c I only wear heels at work, and am sitting a lot and don't wear the really high ones.  Oh well.

thanks for the congrats!  Yeah, you can definitely do it.  But you dont want to gimp down the aisle on your wedding day!!  find out how you can wrap it for support or comfort JUST IN CASE it gets sore from dancing.  By then you'll have most photos out of the way so if you wrap it under your dress nobody will see Wink

Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this!  Hopefully even if you can't run, you can keep up your workouts in non-impact ways--biking, lifting, yoga, pilates, even swimming.  I know I've got plantar fascitis and I've almost stopping running all together lately.  I miss it, but I've been able to keep up with my workouts with the elliptical and bike.

Oh no! Perhaps some physical therapy can assist in the healing (and it also provides a light workout) during your downtime. Keep working that upper body and you will be a-ok!

I am doing the Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and sort of mostly hopping around on my left leg....man my left quad is going to be jacked : )

The Dr. asked me whether running shoes would show from under my wedding dress.  I told her I would probably just suffer through the pain if it came down to that!!!

    Erindesmar,

I used to get plantar fasciitis a lot when I was running more (and I, too, live in flip flops!).  If the tendinitis is in your arches, you might try this.  It always helped me: freeze a water bottle, then place it laying down on the floor, and role it under your foot (push harder, as you can).  Just a suggestion!  Of course, follow your Doctor's orders...

Oh Erin!!! Sending good thoughts your way!  I hope that foot feels better.  Flip flops?  Well I'm surprised I'm not in a body cast right now b/c of all the years I've worn them...

I feel your pain girl. I had bronchitis and am just now feeling up to going running again, but the darn weather here is so rainy I am limited so I guess I'll begin the 30 day shred all over again!

I hope you feel better :)

Do you have the ability to still use an elliptical or an arc trainer?  They don't require you to pick your foot up and put it back down.  I'm ignorant on what foot tendonitis is or involves.

When I broke my toe and couldn't run I was able to use the elliptical without any pain.  An arc trainer is another thing to try.  I guess it kept me off the front of my foot, unlike walking and running, which DID hurt.

And your upper body muscles are all the muscles that show, so that will work out well at least.

How about those gorgeous Cole Haan Nike Air wedding shoes with the gorgeous rosettes coming down the side?

Just a thought.  Hugs to you Erin.  Wishing you well like NOW.

Dude, I've totally been there.  I still can't wear heels - I had capsulitis, which is a similar inflammation.  You get it from wearing shoes that have no support.  I assume you have quit wearing flip-flops?  You should switch to sneakers full-time as much as possible (I didn't take mine off before I went to bed).  If it's really painful before the wedding, ask for a cortisol injection.

As for getting super buff, just do the upper body stuff of 30-day Shred without any impact - impact is bad.  So do the upper body punches and stuff for cardio, esp. with the weights - that'll be really good.

Seriously be careful, and don't wear heels for the wedding if you can help it - you will spend a lifetime paying for it if you injure yourself any further.  (i.e. rupture the tendon, etc.) Pain is the body's way of telling you to take it easy.

I have tendonitis in my right arm(elbow, wrist, and hand).... its not my foot, but I can feel your pain.  One thing that has really helped is ice and compression brace things.  I have this little neoprean glove that has a band that velcros around my wrist for extra support there. I helps to "hold" you tendons and for some reason pressor feels better than no pressor.  You could try getting a support brace for your ankle that just slips on and has a band on the foot and one on the ankle.  That may help some and give you foot a little extra support.

Also, the doc told me to take ibprofun regularly... I know that is horrible, but if I don't take it I cant get through classes becuase of not writing.  And I only write what I need, I tape the rest.  So you can try that too.

    Good luck!
