The last 4 nights I’ve been having chest pains so severe that they make me throw up. It feels like someone is sitting on my chest, making it hard to breathe. It sort of feels like gas, but in my chest instead of my stomach.
Has this happened to anyone else???
I’m 19 weeks pregnant by the way.

Absolutely go to the Emergency Room. This isn’t normal and you need help right away.

@wildcardinside: I wouldn’t wait to speak to a doctor, just to make sure everything is ok. Better safe than sorry.

I have gastric reflux and severe hearburn, it feels similar to this. I would still definately call your doctor’s office (you will talk to the oncall doc) and I would guess they would instruct you to go to the ER.

Could be pleurisy (muscle strain in your chest wall; feels worse when you breathe in/deeply), but you need to be seen pronto anyways. It could be nothing major, but only a doctor can make that call.
Does anything make the pain better? Advil? Hot shower?

First off, if you are still online, calm down. I know some of the previous comments could cause major stress. Yes, you should see a doctor asap but, there is a million other things this could be. It’s very likely that this is not something life or pregnancy theatening.
Calm down, and go to a doctor. No need to put unneeded stress on yourself and your baby by worrying!

Sounds like severe acid reflux. I would go in straight away though and see a doctor. Keep you and baby safe.

@tcanne: + 1 but of course see a doctor.

Is it worse when you lay down? It sounds similar to what I have and I was just diagnosed with pancreatitis… definitely go to the ER.

@ieatunicorns: YEPP. SAME.
I know you should see a doctor either way: but honestly for me it was extreme acid refluc and heartburn. Oddly enough—heartburn can feel like a heart attack with pregnant women because
1. its more severe heart burn than weve ever felt before pregnancy
2. its higher in the chest than normal heartburn
I seriously convinced myself I was having a heart attack a couple times and my doctor said nooo….

Hope you are feeling better; any update?

I didn’t go to see my doctor because her office is closed on weekends, and it went away each time within a half hour. I’ve never experienced heartburn before, and so I was just wanting to hear about some similar experiences from other people.
No pain last night, I bought some antacid chews and made sure to burp a lot. Seemed to work!
