misssnapdragon,
Check out some makeup counters, especially Laura Mercier, Stila, Bobbi Brown, Trish McEvoy, and Clinique. Do some little makeovers there to see what type of makeup you'd like.
Often times the people that work at the counters are also freelance artists that would be willing to do work for you. Check it out! Right there in the city, you have Macy's, Saks, Neiman's, Nordstrom...
If your still looking, I've hired someone from the Laura Mercier counter. She works in macys and saks and yes she does charge. Unless you want your makeup done in the store!? Anyway her name is Julie Dy and she is good. As far as hair goes I havent had a trial yet but I did find a place that is super cheap called "Blow". They're located in the financial district. so good luck.

At counters, they will do a makeover for you if you purchase about $40 in products afterwards.
They are not in San Francisco but they travel to the wedding location. Check out On Location Hair and Makeup.
They do my fashion shows. I don't know how much they charge for a wedding but it is worth a phone call. 925 947 0840

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I'm getting married in July, and I still haven't booked my hair/makeup. I really wanted to go to a beauty school because of the price, and because I'm getting a really simple hairstyle, but the place I called isn't available on my wedding day. (I called Aveda Institute.) Does anybody know of a good place, preferably not too expensive, in Nob Hill or Union Square? Thanks!
