Hello to the hive!
I am wanting to have a shabby chic wedding in May 2013 BUT the weather here is completely unpredictable. This May has been beautiful with very little rain (leaving everything VERY dry now in June) and last May was completely soaked with even a little flooding.
Should I risk having the ceremony and reception outside? Or should I just plan for the indoors?
Since the theme will be shabby chic – lots of flowers, mismatched china and pastel mismatched linens… will it look funny to have it indoors? Does anyone have any pictures of an indoor shabby chic event? Any tips on how to make a room look more appropriate for shabby chic-ness?

What are some of the indoor places you’re considering? Where do you live/where are you having the wedding? And holy cow, 2015, that’s Back to the Future future time!

I think it’s totally possible to do shabby chic indoors. I’d definitely recommend trying to find a historical/vintage sort of place for the wedding if at all possible. You could also maybe look into renting out a big barn like in the link below to have the look of shabby chic but still not have to worry about poor weather. Sorry I couldn’t upload the picture itself but for some reason the uploader tool isn’t working for me at the moment.

Well, we will be having it indoors. Its a big empty space with plain pillars.
I was thinking of adding globe lights across the ceiling and draping some of the space like this…
I just feel like Im going to loose the whole “shabby” feel because it is indoors… any suggestions?

@FutureMrsLLD: Hmm…is there any way they could do a different kind of chair? Maybe one kind of like the ones in the picture I linked to previously? The ones in the picture just look a bit more modern to me. Other than that, I think the room is definitely workable as far as decorations go. I like your suggestion of using the globe lights and think that would look really nice. I’d say just be sure to stay true to the vision you are going for in your head as far as the linens and centerpieces go and it ought to still come together for you nicely. 🙂
