So we are having an outdoor wedding at a friends ranch this late Aug. I thought I was covered with shade since I have 2 10×10 pop up tents we are renting and 1 very large tent that the dance floor will be under as well as the dj set up and cake table. However, I just attended a friends wedding a few weekends ago and it was HOT. It got me thinking that we are going to need a lot more shade options for our guest so they arn’t miserable! Im trying to come up with some alternatives to the tents because they are SO expensive and we are on the tail end of our budget. Anyone have any financial friendly ideas?

Do you have any trees at the site that you can attach something to?
You could rent an old parachute.
This site has one for sale but you can also rent them.

@julies1949: That would be a great idea but sadly no trees to tie it too 🙁

Our venue had big umbrellas available for rent if we needed them. YOu could always look into those, they’re probably cheaper to rent than tents.

Sorry this sounds so cheap, but I thought of the people I would see walking around on hot days, maybe buying personal umbrellas, like 1 per couple. Target has them in their bargin section for like 1-2.50, and your guest could always take them home as sort of favors and use them during rainy season too.

@Miss_smores: I think this idea is great! Also maybe include some personal fans (you know the inexpensive, two-winged, battery-operated ones). It was be fun and whimsical!
