- Wedding: August 2012
I just wanted to share my experience with Shades of Pale for other bees to benefit from. Initially, I had seen lots of people here on weddingbee suggest Shades of Pale for a china house dress but had only seen one review. I decided to check them out and order a dress from them…bad idea.
Things started out great in the beginning! A woman Agnes was helping me and we would email each other back and forth multiple times a day about fabric choices and whatever else was on my mind. I ALWAYS got a prompt and thorough response. I sent in tons of pictures of what I wanted (I was piecing together multiple dresses) and lots of detailed info as to what I wanted. She seemed like she understood what I wanted, told me what was and wasn’t doable and sent me pictures of previous dresses.
I didn’t start having problems until after I paid my deposit (of course!). They require 50% upon ordering and the rest after you receive pictures of your dress and approve it. Well, it not only took them 2xs the amount of time they said it would to get me pictures, but I couldn’t get a response from someone! It took on average a week to get a response to an email…even after emailing them multiple times, and it was usually just a simple question. They were also told that my wedding was May 19 (for a short amount of time we were considering changing the date) and I’m glad we went back with our original date in August because I the dress wasn’t even ready by May 19th. They didn’t even have pictures of it yet and wouldn’t return emails. I can’t imagine how awful that would have been if I would have kept that date!
Then…..I get the pictures. It was awful. It looked NOTHING like what I asked for or the pictures I provided them. It’s mostly frustrating because the parts that I’m most unhappy with are the parts that I specifically asked about and got assured that it would be done like I had asked. I even paid for the designer fabric upgrade AND high accuracy upgrade (yes, you pay different prices depending on the level of accuracy you want). Waste of money. I will be requesting my money back through PayPal.
