My FI knows I’m on this site a lot and he thought it would be intesting to post this story on the board and to see what kind of responses I come back with:
So I don’t consider myself a bridezilla by any means. I already picked out my three bridesmaids and I thought it would be great if they can provide their own feedback in terms of what types of dresses they wanted to wear, within certain logical limitations (no black, no purple because it’s been overdone, nothing too revealing, and nothing too ridiculously pricey since I’ll be paying for them). I sent them to a website that would allow them to “favorite” the dresses they like and I said that all we need to do is narrow it down to a one designer and one color. As in, they can chose whatever they cut they want…knee-length, long, etc. I only did this because I know one of my bridesmaids is ridiculously peculiar about stuff like this (she only wants to wear dresses past her knee and PREFERS purple). She even demaded to know who my wedding makeup artist was so that she could APPROVE her (the makeup artist) first before she able to do her makeup for her. Anyways, so I told all three bridesmaids to pick out their favorites and we can decide from there. So she texts me on Thanksgiving Day that she saw my email about the dresses and that she already picked out her bridesmaid dress and shoes a few months ago, and bought them…at a Nordstrom Rack on the clearance rack. So the dress is white satin on top and purple on the bottom, and her shoes are the Badgley Mischka shoes that pretty much every bride wears at her own wedding. (Pictures were included in the text.) I mean, granted the dress is very nice, but uh…(1) I said no purple (don’t get me started on the white) and, (2) even if I were OK with the purple dress, how the heck are my other two brides going to be able to hunt down the same dress in their own sizes, espcially since we all live in different cities?
I was so shocked that I didn’t even know how to respond to her text other than a “Nice dress. Who’s wedding are you gonna wear that to?” response. Has everyone else dealt with this type of behavior before? Looking back, this is a pretty funny story to share, but at the same time, it’s a huge “WTF?”
