I don't have a wedding blog or board to share. I should really put one together. But I loved looking at yours! Your venue and decorating ideas all look beautiful. I love the Asian-style table runners. How are you going to situate these on the round tables? Are they going to lie all the way across?
Thanks Caroline. Yes, I'm going to lay them across the center of the round table and then place the high floral centerpiece on top w/votives & flower petals scattered across. The runners are long enough to make it all the way across the table--they just don't overhang as much as I would have liked.
Thanks Andrea. Your invites came out well--I love botanical design elements, and the fern leaf complements your possible centerpieces so well. Kudos on the map! FI spent a lot of time trying to do a map for us, but we decided the directions from the hotel to the ceremony/reception site was so simple that we really didn't need one.
BTW, I lived in Yardley for a couple of years and the church you are getting married in is just lovely. The church itself is so quaint, and then the pond with the historic houses lining the shores just completes the picture! I'm jealous...
Thanks for sharing your bios, Miss Ruffles and Andrea! They're so helpful. I love seeing what other brides are doing for their weddings. Good luck with your planning since they're both coming up so quickly!
My fiance and I have a wedding blog, but we don't update it nearly enough:
Also, since our guests mainly read it, he won't let me post much of the fun stuff on there (my dress, diy projects, hair trials) for fear that nothing will be left to surprise. Since I needed to post that stuff somewhere, i also started a flickr site so I can see how it's all coming together:
Hi Sillyinphilly! Your invitations are amazing & I love the calligraphy. I also saw you hired Mariano Delgado. I was considering on meeting with him too- I would love any feedback on his photography
Thanks Snappal! We're on a shoestring budget (around $7,000) and photography was one of the most agonizing decisions for me.Like, I spent months and months searching for a photographer for us. Most of the photogs who I loved were way out of my price range and many who I could afford either seemed really cheesy or their photos felt too amateur. Mariano is definitely affordable (even with extra money that we're paying for travel fees he's still cheaper than some of the others we were considering) and although not overly flashly, his work looks classy and has nice colors and compositions. Also, he was great to meet in person - very friendly and professional and has been great about staying in touch via e-mail before the wedding. So, so far I have the highest hopes for him, I'll let you know how the photos turn on after July 12th!
can i just say that i totally heart you? i went to your illustration site and died a little because your work is perfect. mmmm mm good. ice cream queen is soooo fabulash haha. i went to college for illustration and love it to death and hope to be as good as you one day (my nerdy site is www.shannoncollins.com). your wedding is going to be beautiful and the bcbg attire that your man is wearing is hawt with a w.
awww, thanks ms. candy corn. i'm totally blushing. i checked out your site when you posted it earlier - your work is super fantastic and freakin' hilarious. i love your sense of color and linework, too. i was so excited to see a philly illustrator as a bee and i love reading your posts! good luck with all of your wedding planning. i can't wait to read more about it.
As far as the calligraphy, I just bought a $2 quill pen and bottle of ink from pearl (any crafts store would have them, though). then i looked at the sample styles on professional calligraphers' websites and at the calligraphy styles that i loved in martha stewart weddings and tried to copy them on a piece of paper as closely as possible. after a bunch of mistakes i just came up with a hybrid style that was the most comfortable for me. it's still very, very far from professional quality, but worked enough for me. if you're going to try this yourself, definitely set up a make-shift light table (lamp under a glass table top will do) and draw dark lines on a sheet of paper to put under your envelopes. I normally can't write straight to save my life.
Thanks, Caroline! Yeah, I'm kinda a control freak and am diy-ing my hair and make-up. I know it's not recommended to do, but our wedding's going to be pretty low key and i'm going for a more natural, kinda messy look, so I think I'll be okay:)
hi all,
anyone want to share bios/blogs? i love looking at new ideas even though i'm so close to the wedding it really shouldn't start anything new.

Your calligraphy on flickr is awesome! I'm even feeling inspired to try my hand at it. Where did you learn?
