There's so much weird stuff going on in the world, I figure its time to share a little GOOD news!
I just got some a few minutes ago myself! Someone just walked into my shop and introduced herself as the editor in chief of a great local glossy magazine we have here and said she'd heard about my jewelry and wanted to feature 5 pieces in their 'things we love' section of the March issue! I can't believe it... this is just a little hobby of mine, but now I'm going to be featured in a magazine that reaches tens of thousands of people? Wow. I'm still unsure about what just happened.
Whats yours!?
@KristenGotMarried: That is awesome!!!
Mine - I'm getting my braces removed in 16 days YAY!!!!
@KristenGotMarried: That's awesome! Congrats!
My good news is that I got my first two RSVPs in the mail yesterday (DW so we had to send the invites ahead of time) AND found out that 20 people have already booked! Here I thought no one would want to come.
@KristenGotMarried: Good news, your hobby might just become your new career!
I have decided to go on a strict diet and lose the 50lbs before the wedding! Well, maybe not all 50 of them, but MOST of them... I hope!
@KristenGotMarried: Congrats! That's great news about your jewelry being featured in a magazine, awesome!!
My good news is that we're going to taste some cakes tonight and tomorrow, and also meet with our florist. Things are progressing nicely for our wedding
.
I forgot to post my good news when I first congratulated @KristenGotMarried:, above. DH and I recently received the wonderful news that the precious, little baby girl from India whom we had been sponsoring through Holt International has been placed with a permanent family for adoption! We are so happy for this new start for her little life. As a result, we have been assigned a new sponsor child, an adorable boy from China.
@KristenGotMarried: Wow, that's great! It sounds like great publicity for you. Hopefully it will bring a lot of business your way!
My news I feel like shouting from the rooftops but I can't tell anyone until I give notice at my job. We've been looking to move back to Dallas for about 6 months now (we moved about 3 hours away in 2010 for DH's current job) and DH just accepted a job offer with a great company! I can't wait...we're going to look for apartments this weekend!
We thought my dog tore his ACL but turns out its just arthritis. The vet bill was still outrageous but at least the poor guy doesn't need surgery.
@KristenGotMarried: Congratulations!!! Some of my work was in a Canadian Bridal Magazine last month, and will be in another edition next month. It's SO exciting!!!! Traffic has definitely picked up, I have a stack of orders I'm trying to get finished today! Uhhh which is why I'm on WB.... LOL!
@Brielle: That's amazing! I definitely want to talk to my DH about sponsoring a child. What organization did you go through if you don't mind my asking?
@couawilou: You must be SO excited!!!! Hooray!
My good news is that DH and I are going to have a date night tonight. Friends of ours got us gift certificates for a local sushi place, and I won passes to see The Artist, so the bonus is that our night is also free! LOL!
@KristenGotMarried: THAT IS AMAZING!!! Congrats!! My younger sister makes jewlery as a hobby and I think it is such an amazing craft!
My good news is weddding related...my wedding dress won;t be as expensive as I thought it was to fix. woohoo! lol
Congrats to everyone! Lots of exciting things!
My good news is that, after 3 surgeries including a double matectomy, my mom is cancer free! I always knew she would be fine (she's a tough lady and they caught it early) but it's great to see the tests that prove it!
My fiance got a job with a salary!! he has been out of work since last feb!
That is super exciting to have your jewelery featured!!
@Mrs.D-To-Be: Amazing!!! Big congratulations to your mom and your family :)
@LGenz: Glad your pup is okay!
Hm, good news? My uncle was declared in remission today after a year of chemo! Best news I've heard in a long, long time! :)
@bakerella: Thanks I'm pumped! Which bridal magazine?!?! I have them all I wanna see hehe
@KristenGotMarried: Congrats on the publicity! That's so wonderful!
My mother's surgery went fine, nothing looks cancerous, and she should be out of the hospital and home in a few hours. I can't think of anything I want more right now.
Thanks everyone!! So great to hear about all of your good news too!! Keep it coming, good news is good for everyone :)
@KristenGotMarried: Congrats, that's awesome!
I don't have any good news right now but this thread is great.
Awww hugs to everyone who's family members are getting healthy and are healing! I'm so happy for you all! That's the best news in the world isn't it? I went through that with my MIL and it was such a hard time, the best news in the world was when the doctors gave her the all clear :)
Just saw this post after I created my own "Good News" post :) Yay congrats to you!! My good news is that I just got a significant raise from my fabulous new boss woo hoo!!
cograts to everyone with their great news :)
my good news is that i am feeling very happy and blessed today. finally coming out of my hazy depression and seeing what a wonderful FI i have and really enjoying this post-engaged, pre-planning phase im in. he called out of work yesturday and suggested i do the same all because it was our anniversary (i had forgotten
)
so in love with him <3
ok enough of my mushiness ;p
@abbie017: Thank you so much! I'm glad about your uncle too! Very thankful for our happy, healthy family members. :-)
Yay for all the good news!
I just found out the other day that I'm finished with all the course requirements for my doctoral program so now I can really focus on working and conducting my thesis research. What a relief!
I've been itching to scream it from the rooftops but I can't - T is 95% sure he's taking a brand new job that will change. our. lives. The salary would be great, the job interesting, and best of all, it would be doable by remote location - so if/when we move for grad school (my first interview is next week!), he'd be able to go anywhere with a salaried job. We will have a job offer on the table sometime around next week... :D
mine seems kind of silly compared to everyone else's. ..but my reception dress arrived yesterday and it fits!! I was afraid it would be too small.
My BFF texted this morning - she went in for her weekly OB appt and they said they're keeping her and baby is due to arrive in the next 24 hours! It's her first baby and I'm so unbelievably excited for her! She was texting me from the tub, haha! I can't wait for the baby to be born!
And also, DH's brother and wife are due with their first any day now......so we'll be Aunt and Uncle for the first time!
I love good news! Mine is that it is my boyfriend and my 3rd dating anniversary, so we're going to The Melting Pot tonight to celebrate! Yum and Yay!!! 3 years is quite an achievement in my mind!

Wow, congrats everyone! What great news all around.
I'll post something as soon as I think of a good one. :)
I love good news, I'm an optimistic person and my faith in goodness has been tested lately... my fi's best friend went awol for 4 days and we were starting to concemplate the worse then earlier today I got a call saying he's been found. Still dont know whats happened but the relief I feel is huge!!!
Such a fantastic thread !!! I love the idea ! We should start one like this more often ! Congratulations to everyone ! All of your news are sooooo exciting :) Thank you for making me smile even more :)
My good (well.. great!!) news is that last night my SO got back from a 4 1/2 month tour in Europe ! (We're in Montreal) He has been gone since september. He did get to come back a few times.. but I am just so happy to have him back home ! The tour will start up again in about a month, but it'll be around here so he will be home everynight :) Yay !
Ah, this has made me feel so much better! Congratulations to everyone! There so many good things happening!
For me, well I got approved for a credit card consolidation and the payment on it is lower that I was paying for all three of the cards that I combined so even though the term of the loan is two years, I'm budgeting so that I can pay it off in 1 year which means that we are that much closer to a house. I'm saving so much money by consolidating! I'm so excited!
@KristenGotMarried: How exciting! Congratulations! And congrats to everyone else. :)
Nothing exciting going on at the moment but I did lose 2 lb this week!
The past few weeks have been pretty good! DH started his new job, I got a new job offer and found out I can actually keep BOTH jobs! Full time at one, and Saturday only at my old job. We are also getting a new bed next weekend (hey, it's the little things!) and FIL had a successful surgery, and appears to be cancer free right now!
@bakerella: That is so wonderful that you and your DH are considering sponsoring a child! I'm sure that you will find it to be a very rewarding experience!
Our current sponsorship is through Holt International (www.holtinternational.org). Most of Holt's sponsorships appear to be very short term, as one of their primary ministries is to provide care for children as they await permanent placement with adoptive families or to provide nutritious food, medical care, clothing, etc. for children living in poverty while with their own families. We've only been sponsoring through Holt for about a year, and we are on our third sponsor child, as the first eventually required more specialized care than the Holt program provided and was moved into another program, and the baby girl we were assigned last summer was recently adopted.
There are several other organizations that offer child sponsorships. DH and my stepchildren were already sponsoring a young woman through Compassion International (www.compassion.com) whenever I met DH. That young lady recently reached the age to graduate from that program. I know that World Vision also offers a program (www.worldvision.org).
Whatever organization you may select, I'm sure the child you choose to sponsor will be blessed by your generosity and caring. :)
