    Honey bee
    NDBee    March 10, 2012

I had a sort of lousy day, and with -40 wind chill, I really didn't feel like freezing just to get to the gym late when it would be really busy. So I treated myself to a night of at-home pampering. I did a honey mask, and it was awesome!

I took the best honey I had (a very nice light colored honey from a local farmer) and rubbed it all over my face and massaged it in. Then I filled the tub with hot water and tossed in an old honey bear that was full of granulated sugar to melt it down. I massaged my face a bit more while the tub filled, and then used the warmed honey as a body scrub while the tub filled the rest of the way.

After waiting about 5-10 minutes, I washed off the honey and enjoyed a soak in the tub, and 10 minutes into my bath I washed the mask off my face. I swear, bees, my skin has never been so soft and smooth! And I smell rather yummy :-) Didn't need to apply any lotion afterwards, which is rare with the harsh winters up here drying you my skin. I think I may need to make this a weekly ritual!

Do any of you bees have any great 'from the pantry' routines or remedies you do at home? I'd love to hear more of them! I can always tell Mr.ND that it's all in the name of wedding-beauty prep ;-)

    That sounds so luxurious!

I read on the Bee about using olive oil in your hair so I tried that.  I got a travel bottle and filled it with olive oil.  In the shower I wet my hair and apply the olive oil using my hands to coat my hair. I shower as usual and then wash out the olive oil using conditioner (or shampoo and then conditioner if I added a lot of olive oil).  My hair feels so soft afterwards.

@BayStateBride:  Aaah, I've always wondered what it was supposed to do and how well it worked. Did you apply it all over or just the ends/ponytail?

*I've been scared off of oil since I was about 9 and put a ton of Skin So Soft oil in my hair to be glamorous...that didn't turn out well. LOL. I was a grease ball for 3 or 4 days.

@NDBee:  Ooh, I want to try the honey trick! Maybe I will after my run tonight!

I am scared of oil too.  I took a bath with a ton of baby oil when I was like 13, and my hair was greasy for about a week. Yikes.
