What are you planning on giving your bridesmaids as a gift? My man just found these awesome custom monogram brands (like, the iron things they use on cattle!) for his groomsmen (they can use it to brand their steaks, etc) which I know they will LOVE. But I'm at a loss for something equally awesome to get my ladies. My wedding is kind of rustic/elegant/country, so anybody with ideas down those lines will be especially helpful!
Rustic or not, what are you giving your special ladies?
Hmm...I don't have anything rustic, sorry! But I gave my ladies Coach wristlets that I got from the outlet store for ridiculously cheap! Also got them their jewelry and a jewelry roll with their names embroidered on them.
I got my girls their jewelry, and I'm also getting their sashes for their dresses and I"m currently looking for short sleeved black hoodies that I can personalize.
I am hoping to get them all black fur stoles, hopefully their dresses will be a long black mermaid-y type style...

I bought them tot bags off Ebay. They're black and their initial in bright pink. Now I have to figure out what to put in them... I bought them their earrings and necklaces while with them so I can't do jewlery. I was thinking pjs, but I don't know sizes... and if I ask, it will be obvious.
I need suggestions too please!!!
Yes, keep them coming! I've always gotten lotions and candles - which are nice, don't get me wrong, but I want to do something a little bit more creative...
Instead of buying jewelry and flasks that the wedding catalogs say you absolutely must buy, that no one really wants, we're shopping for everyone as though it was Christmas or their birthday. That way, they get something they actually like and are able to get use out of.
As an example, if one is into cooking, get them a cookbook or gadget they may enjoy. If another is into sports, get them something related to that.
I don't know about rustic, but I am getting each of them a Coach wristlet. I'll put their jewelry and a lipgloss inside.
I am giving my two readers funky travel jewelry bags I found on Etsy, as well as big chunky cocktail rings.
I got them all these necklaces:

I got them in different colors for each girl. Luckily, I live in Chicago where the jewelry designer in based, so I was able to go to the store and order them in person :)
They were a HUGE hit. They all loved them, and they're always telling me they get tons of compliments wherever they go. I ended up getting one for myself, and I've gotten a lot of compliments as well.
I am getting my girls each a monogrammed tote bag with a monogrammed bathrobe inside. I'm giving them their gifts when we go out of town for my bachelorette party, this way they can use their robes when we have a spa day (they can also wear it while we are getting our hair and makeup done they day of)! I also may include their jewelry if I can find something they all like. any suggestions on where to find cheap but classy jewelry? I'm thinking maybe Simply Vera by Vera Wang at Kohls.com??
So far I am getting them flip flops and a shawl. I'm covering their hair and makeup and any jewelry I end up asking them to wear.
I love the bathrode idea (I'm also doing the tot bags!). But where do you get them monogrammed?? I have no idea where to do for something like that... I could do ebay but it's really expensive to get anything shipped to Canada.
I got them canvas bags with their names embrordered on them. Inside i'm putting t-shirts that are personalized and matching flip flops (something to wear while we get ready!), toe nail polish that matches the dress, and i wrote them all a letter. I'm thinking of getting them a bracelet too with a charm that is personal. We are going kind of rustic/country, so i've tossed around the idea of cowboy hats... not sure yet though! :)
@Sunshine, if there are any embroidery shops in your area, they will do that for you inexpensively. Look in the phone book to see who is available.
Ooooh, Where is a good source for robes? I love that idea. I'm also giving my girls a sauna and mani/pedi day on the day before my wedding and I'm giving them their hair and make-up so I love the idea of doing robes. Any good sources?
Ooh I love the robes idea! I'm thinking of getting my attendant one of those huge wine glasses that can hold a bottle of wine in one go - she's tiny and we've always enjoyed a drink when we're together and she'll love it. You can get them engraved as well. But robes... man... that's good....
farmers daughter where did ur man get the custom monogram brands? I think thats what mine wants to get his guys
farmersdaughter: My fiance got that from his brother in law three year ago (the iron branding sticks for like steaks and what not). He thought it was hilarious and so original. I hope to find something as original and interesting for my girls. I am unsure what my man will give out. We have lots of time to think. But i love the idea!!!
@sunshine - my SIL was in a wedding where she got a tote bag filled with beauty stuff! The bride got them Old Navy Flip Flops for the wedding, nail polishes, deoderant, makeup remover, cotton balls, nail polish remover, a nail file that sort of stuff. Hope that gives you some more ideas!
I have a problem because all my bridesmaid are so different. 3 are very girly and the other two somewhat girly but prefer to wear black and are not happy about having to wear heels for the wedding. I can't seem to find anything that matches all their personalities. I wanted to get a charm bracelet but knowing the two who are "gotchic" like they won't wear em and it will be a waste. I thought about getting flasks...lol...but only 3 will think its funny and the other two (my sister and sister in law) won't get it. I want something fun and interesting and useful! help!!

i bought all my bridesmaids a gift set from lush, i'm giving them all $50 towards their dress and i think i'm going to try to get them all coach wristlets, but we'll see about that last one.
@trixicatt - i'm not sure, but i'll ask him where he found the brands and post the link!
@rosiegirl - i'm considering cowboy hats too...i don't know that my girls will ever wear them, but it could be really fun for the bachelorette party, and a momentum that my city girl friends will hang on the wall =) let me know if you find any cute/affordable ones!
Instead of flowers, each of my gals carried a silver satin purse down the aisle (with a satin rose on it) and I gave them each a necklace
The branding irons are from tbonebrands.com. If you go to this link: http://tbonebrands.com/branding_iron_packages.htm you can get their "groomsman package," and that is what my FI is doing.
@crebe80 - I love those fur stoles, so cute!
I'm trying to think of stuff my girls will actually use. The last wedding I was in I got a coach cosmetic bag that I love.
I bought my girls super cute hard case carry on suitcases. It seemed very fitting seeing as how my wedding is in Vegas and they are all traveling from Oklahoma. I also may be getting their shoes for them too. They are already doing so much to attend and be apart of my wedding, that I wanna help out all that I can.
Some great ideas here!
I am hoping to knit my awesome bridesmaids a cobwebby lacy shawl or shrug each -- something that should be useful during our autumn wedding, but that will also be portable (vital for my 'maid who's coming from the other side of the world) and useful for both of them.
HI HI!
I bought their dresses (two of them are my stepdaughters to be!) so I just bought my MOH's dress too since I was paying for my two daughterstobe! And I bought them some really nice pearl earrings and necklaces from Claire's and Im going to buy them a Vera Bradley Clutch.
I got each of my BMs three gifts, which can all be used for the wedding, and for other occassions. The clutches will be used in lieu of a traditional bouquet. The fabric flower is removable, and I will probably replace it with a real flower on the Big Day, along with a ribbon tied around it with a quote from her fave book written on it.
The clutch was custom made through an Etsy seller. I chose the lining - it's a fabric called "Love Letter" which also ties in with our book theme.
The pocket mirror was an awesome find at Winners!
I also bought them a Swarovksi clear crystal necklace (blue sample shown below) and matching earrings (pic n/a).
I really want to do Coach wristlets, but if I can't afford that, I may get them something like this from etsy (can't remember the name of the seller - I forgot to write it down!)
I bought my girls intricate hand beaded clutches, I got them in chinatown and they are SO beautiful... seriously if you're in NY, go there. I got four of them for $55, and I bartered with the lady selling them. the price of all four of them was like $150, and she gave me an amazing deal!
there are some awesome ideas!!!
I'm doing chocolate velour sweatsuits with their nicknames bedazzled on the back-- figured we could get ready in them and then wear them for the after party-- I have one in white :) been dying to do this since I could remember... or I saw Ms. Brit Spears do it! haha I'm also paying for hair and jewlery
@Habibah14, that is the cutest idea! Can you tell me where you're ordering them from?? I'd definitely be interested in doing that!
I love all these ideas! Now I'm feeling kinda unoriginal - we went for the standard jewelry and flasks option. But I guess it's a good sign that I wish I'd gotten one of each for myself?
We got them clutches from MISMA on etsy. I really wanted to get them something that they'd like and actually use, so I e-mailed them about 10 different options and had them rank their top 3. Everybody loved the idea and seems happy with their selection!
i love the clutch idea and even found a cute bracelet that i like as well. may decide to get both. i have been looking on odd websites instead of the ones specifically for bridesmaid gifts. i have found this has been helpful because it gives you more originality and availability to play with the girls personalities.
is it customary to buy the shoes for them if you are requiring a specific color?
