Hey bees of infinite wisdom!
My boyfriend and I have found a stone, a beautiful oval diamond which needs a setting. I’d like to have a platinum head with a yellow gold band or a whole platinum ring, I think a solitaire style but not totally sure yet. Do you have any idea what something like that would cost?
Please share your custom setting pictures, stories and how much (approx) it cost if you are comfortable sharing. I’d love to ogle your creativity and the final products!

Surprised no one has said anything – mine is a princess cut with a custom setting

Fh worked with a local start-up designer (also the cousin of a friend) and it ran I believe around 2k for an 18k white gold ring, including the cost of the gold.

Mine was based off of an existing ring, but customized to fit my diamond. It’s platinum and $450.

Mine was custom made to combine the things I liked from 2 different rings. The process was very fun, but since I am such a perfectionist, a little stressful at times too. To have it custom designed didnt necessarily cost extra. We paid for the stone and they priced the band based off the carat weight used and the price of a similar band. We did make sure to set on a price before the ring was done. That way, no surprises. I emailed and called our jeweler tons and visited the shop to go over each step (design meetings, talk about digital rendering, wax mold, etc) and he was great about it. This definately made a huge difference. Its a good chunk of money, so ask and say everything you want. As with anything custom made there were some things that didint turn out exactly how I expected, but I love that its as near to perfect as I could get. Also love that no one has my ring! Good luck!
p.s. also included of the ring right after it was cast. Sorry pics are so big.

Here is my custom setting. Half-bezel solitaire in platinum with a round diamond. Sorry, but I don’t know the cost! I originally wanted an oval diamond set east-west in this setting, but I was lucky enough to get a family stone that was round.
Also, here is a previous thread with an oval setting that I thought was really nice:
