nanoinfinity:  Well I haven’t started mines yet but after my classes over in june I will. Its not a simple design but while in class I’ve been asking my teachers (fashion major) for points and ideas. I’m getting ready to order my fabric soon from housefabric.

My dress will be more of a fit and flare/trumpet still. I have a pear shape and my FI loves my curves and so do I!! lol It will be fitted all the way down the bodice and hips but flares right under the hip area. It will be a sweetheart neckline and I’m debating on adding a strap so I think I’ll make the strap detachable to see if I want it or not. It will be a blush satin underlay with ivory lace. The skirt will be the show stopper with 3D ombre flowers covering the whole skirt. I know that my dress isn’t so different then the dresses alot of brides have been wearing with textured skirts and lace sweetheart, but I’ve never found all the elements I wanted together the shape, color, lace and texture.

I’m scared because I know that this isn’t an easy task but I’m up for the challenge. I will have a plan B dress just in case tho. My teacher are pushing us to try different things takign what they are teachign us and experimenting. Everyone thinks I’m making my dress. And my FI really wants me to and said I don’t even need to order the plan B dress because he has that much faith in me. SOrry I don’t have a picture of my shetches but I will start postign about my journey as soon as I start.

Tagging because I want to see photos! How amazing. I love to design clothes and have made sketches in the past of wedding dresses, but when it came to my dress I felt like there was already one out there with my name on it, or I would have designed my own! 🙂

i made the skirt. it’s 4 layers: muslin next to my skin (or it might be broadcloth? cheap soft cotton), silk, plain mesh (true story: it’s an ikea curtain. it was the right texture, color, and price!), and flocked dotted Swiss mesh tulle from etsy. I used 3″ horsehair braid for the hem and interlinked the cotton/silk for structure.

the waistband in the back is actually elastic…thus the sash.

i had the corset made with my fabrics to my sketch. I’m wearing a black skirt underneath the skirt in this picture and am not wearing my shoes, so it’ll look better and won’t puddle.

after my wedding I had a ruffle added…I wish I’d done it this way all along! I’m still going to add straps, but thicker and wider set than the first picture. One last honeymoon photo shoot and then I never have to wear a corset again. 😀
