I am curious as to what I should be expecting to spend on engagement photos. Thanks for any input!
My photographer includes it as part of his package. Other photographers in nyc that I looked at all charged about $300-$500 for the engagement shoot.
We had a e-pics in our package but I asked them to drop it because we decided to take them on our own. I'm so glad I did because they wanted $500 for the e-session. We ended up spending nothing because we had our friend take pictures with her camera. They turned out really great and the FI photoshopped them. Check them out under my post 1940s engagement photos
Ours were free as well. A way for us and our photographers to get to know each other and for us to get comfortable in front of the camera. Sorry can't be more help- might be a good negotiating thought though??
My engagement is so long that most wedding photographers do not want to include it in the package. Bummer. Glad to hear that thats a good money saver for you guys.
Our e-pics were an add-on to our wedding package. It cost us $300. We got our money's worth though since she shot with us for almost two hours!
Our e-session is included in our package. We got a great dea b/c he's a college student just starting his business.
@vintage2010 Your photos were awesome! I love the vintage feel on everything. Very cute idea.
@katertot214 Wow 2 hours? I could only imagine how many images you got!
Ours is part of our package, but for ad hoc session for our photographer it's $450
Ours were included in our package, but our photographer usually charges $250 for them. They lasted just shy of 2 hours. It only includes 1 hi-res file, though. Otherwise, you have to either buy the rest of the digital photos ($400 - yikes) or buy the individual prints.
Ours were included in the package, but the photographer usually charges $300 for an e-shoot. Our shoot was about 2 hours, and we get a CD with all the images on it, and I'm pretty sure we can do whatever we want with them! I should be getting them any day now, and I'm so excited!
Our photographer was planning on charging a very reasonable $500, but because of time restraints, we went with a friend.
Cost of our photos: $6.50 plus tax (price of a burrito and horchata!) Fun urban decay shoot. Priceless!
Ours was $225, but it was a discount because we had a friendor photographer. I would anticipate $300-$500 or include it in a wedding photography package.
Our engagement session was a "gift" from our photographer with our wedding package, but the prints and album killed us. We won't have access to all the prints until eight months after the shoot (sales tactic), so we decided to splurge and buy a 20 page leather bound layout style album. We love it, but still can't believe how much we spent! Be prepared for sticker shock if the prints/cd are not included! Good luck!
Ours are an extra $100 for a 1-hour session (which seems kinda short to me) and a high res DVD with all the pics and printing rights. We're having a friend do it for free though, and putting the money we saved on engagement pics into the albums.
Ours was free - we found an ad in the classifieds from a photog who was just getting into it, our shoot was her first engagment shoot ever.
A friend of mine posted an ad on craigslist looking for a photog who was just getting started and got over a dozen responses, we were going to do that before our other opportunity came up.
Ours was included in the photography package but I believe it's ballpark $175 a la carte.
My FI's sister is stating her photography buisness in Denver, CO. We are flying out there next week and she is going to take some pictures for us. I guess ours is the cost of the flight (but we were going to visit anyway) , so around 400.
We used a professional photographer who was not a wedding photographer or couple's photographer, and so he only charged $200 and we were with him about 4 hours at multiple locations.
Our pictures themselves turned out great, but since he wasn't used to shooting couples, he wasn't good at giving us direction. We really needed some direction, because we kept doing the same things.
Ours were $300, and she traveled about two hours to get to the location, shot us in two locations for at least an hour and a half, and we got all of the high res, non-watermarked photos on CD, plus one of the pictures of our choice matted in a large frame for our guestbook.
It was so incredibly worth it - I love our photos.
Ours were included in our wedding package, and we just did them on Sunday (late I know but they'll be ready well before the wedding where I want to use them as table numbers!). I don't know how much they would have cost separately, but we would have had FI's sister take them if they weren't included.
I think I'm going to do a TTD session with her after the wedding if I can find a cute dress at the good will
Our engagement photo shoot will be $125 with our wedding package and the copyrights to our images. If we hadn't had booked her for our wedding it would have cost $275
Most are included in the wedding package but if you do the shoot by itself it cuold range from 300-500. Look around for different photographers if you want a better deal. Many photographers that are just starting out have great prices and amazing results. Craigslist is also a good place to look.
We booked in the less popular booking months so my photog was running a promotion for free epics with wedding pic package.
Mine was only $75 with $50 of it being a credit to use towards purchasing photos. So we only really paid $25 for her time and editing. She doesn't do it as a full time job, it's just something she does fun on the side. And she does it amazingly.
Ours were included in the wedding package; a la carte $250, but decided to get that option dropped because we wanted to take our e-pics were we met instead of in the wedding location (Dallas)! So we searched high and low for a reasonable photographer in New Orleans---the prices ranged from $200-$500, and mind you the $500 quality was not at all better than the least, just a more popular photographer. In the end we paid $200 for a 2 hour session in the French Quarter - New Orleans and received all of the digital images on a disc (internet and print ready)...and our photos were available for online view/orders for 6 months...the photos came out FABULOUS!!!!
Dont get tricked into paying big bucks...it DOES not have to cost that much! Good luck!
Free! Won a free engagement shoot at a bridal show. I hope it turns out well.
Mine was free! A photography student offered - she placed an ad on craigslist and I was the first to repsond!
$250 -- 2-3 hours -- 300 pictures.
$350, for 2 hour shoot, full editing, and a DVD with all the prints and full rights!
our were included in the price...(1200 for 7 hours day of, epics, and rights to all pics) here is one of our e pics
